Like cmoose said - I think we need to differentiate between ClubSport spec vs ClubSport options.ClubSport options are just Bucket Seats, Harness, Half Roll Cage & Fire Extingusher.
ClubSport spec is ClubSport option PLUS those things that Porsche used to do and also seems to now only do in the RS versions of the cars - lightness added - engine/flywheel, thinner glass or plastic instead, sticker crest instead of badge (lol), pared back and honed.
Likelyhood is that I've answered my own point. ClubSport Spec is now what the RS cars are.

I was envisaging it along the lines of the GT3 I.e. We assume it's philosophy is maybe 50/50 track/road and would be available in comfort or CS spec like a GT3
That's what I was thinking....keep it simple. It was only to address MrD's comment about there being a very limited market for a CS. Cage adds weight, harness are a pain in the bks,
I,ll take the lighter car with normal belts please, it would lap faster and you don't need a cage in a road car it's bloody dangerous if you hit your head on it.
We know it's going to be a road car, the Cs pack if a option will just be a afterthought like one the 991 GT3 ie. Not really workable.
The car should and going by the R will have Buckets and big brakes as standard.
I,ll put CS money into the 2.5k full leather option. :-)
If you want a RS take your name off the list and add it to the RS list ;-)

CS is usually a no cost option. And the poll is fine as it is, no need to tell everybody what they should do, Mr D.I,ll take the lighter car with normal belts please, it would lap faster and you don't need a cage in a road car it's bloody dangerous if you hit your head on it.

I put money down now we will not see pictures here of 27 caged up GT4's
Or close to 70% of sales caged cars ...
Bit like the PH 100k what would you buy threads which are utter laughable.
Just seems a lot of wannabe's
Let see what people order in Feb :-)
Having one in your garage and saying "yes" on a forum are way apart ESP on here lol.
Every one said the 996gt3 RS was the one to have, hardcore etc etc but you could pick them up easy at £60k for years.
only when the prices started to rise did they start selling.

To be fair I think this is probably on the money. I imagine if you'd done a GT3 poll in the past results would be similar, but in reality what percentage of them were ordered as CS spec? 30%? Certainly not the majority.Or close to 70% of sales caged cars ...

If it's a road car only, you shouldn't be lapping quicker anywhere - except on the track, which presumably it part of the environment the GT4 will specifically be designed for. in this environment, I would be a whole lot more happy with a roll cage fitted. No need for a front section providing the rear section is designed well. It would also provide a stiffer platform which - providing again the car was partly designed for the track in mind - will be quicker despite the increase in weight. I,ll take the lighter car with normal belts please, it would lap faster and you don't need a cage in a road car it's bloody dangerous if you hit your head on it.

If the car is genuinely designed to share it's DNA with a GT4 vehicle then a proper club sport spec is an essential option. Since this car Threatens be a genuine road going version of a racing car - unlike the current GT3 which most certainly isn't - here's hoping that there is one as it could well be the last bastion of hope for the those drivers that value interaction above everything else
Porsche have not stated its going to be a race car yet.
And if they race it you will buy an off the shelf cup car , no ?
Porsche are trying to make a fun road car with a manual shift, which can do the odd track day if one so wish's
That's my take on it. Most people only want a rear cage so there is a harness point.
Cars stiff enough chassis wise on road tyres or cups imo.
So again only needs the extra stiffness when you fit slicks which maybe 1 from 200 cars sold will see.
most will have climate, AC leather, Bose, a PCM unit and 6 air bags. Then to spec CS pack on that is a bit daft !
Not sure how homologation works if that's what the car is for. I guess the bits they cannot change is aero, engine and brakes. Hence all bigger./better but the cars we will see racing will not be the roads cars we are buying will they ?

I think that you are missing my point. To a greater or lesser extent, there has always been a road going Porsche that offered a similar visceral experience to a race cat that it shared its DNA with.... Until now. That's why, providing the GT4 is actually raced - I think that a genuine clubs port package is an essential option.
Re the cage - it certainly made a tangible difference to the Merzger GT3's handling on the circuit when the correct tyres were run and also provided essential roll over protection in the event of an accident.
