I don't get all the hype about the 991 GT3 it's just a meh and noisy road car that can be passed by a properly tuned Lotus Exige on track..
I bought into the hype and the next day I returned it for a 991 Turbo S. It is a proper Porsche with grip and midrange torque to cruise through the canyons..
For the price of a new GT3 you can have a low mileage 991 Turbo S...

I guess that's the point - you buy the GT3 to 'drive', you buy the Turbo S to 'cruise'...I bought into the hype and the next day I returned it for a 991 Turbo S. It is a proper Porsche with grip and midrange torque to cruise through the canyons..

Agree Tree , but only in the UK in US and Europe lots of discounted GT3s available .........Great Car and a big step froward only 5 secs a lap down at Portimao with CH than Especiale which is very impressive...
Best bit is that they can run all day on track at that level no issues ....

GT3 is a sports car. Involving true drivers car. Reasonably hardcore but Jekyll and Hyde personality makes for interesting rapid and exciting civilised daily too.
Turbo S is a GT. Crushingly rapid safe and competent comfortable mile eater but typically somewhat detached driving experience for a 911.

An exige quicker than a gt3?
How are the canyons of planet zog?
A v6 exige has a decent chance of being quicker on track i think if both are driven competently. Certainly the v6 cup would be much closer than some clearly think. 400kg less will make a very significant difference. How are the canyons of planet zog?
Sorry to tell ya that the 991 GT3 is just Hype but it is in my opinion when comparing it to a 991 Turbo S.
Why buy a car that has no future performance potential ? It can't be made faster or handle better in the real world. On track it really is just meh and could never come close to a slightly modified Elise..
The 991 Turbo S is such an amazing car with a true Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality in the real world. I can putt down the Hwy in complete comfort or warp speed and as soon as I get to a favorite canyon road it has the performance of a Group B monster with better grip than any GT3.....sorry it's true, I didn't want to believe it myself....
So if you are in the market for a new 991 GT3 have a look at a slightly used 2014 991 Turbo S for the same money you won't be disappointed .....
I may have cheated by installing a set of H&R springs to lower and stiffen things up just a bit....

How very sad. I really wanted to like the GT3 but it really did suck on the road.
