Chaps,

I have just spent about 10 hours this weekend in my S2, and this has confirmed what I suspected before. I don't like the seats. In fact, the seats are giving me moderate backache. At the moment, everything from between my shoulderblades to the middle of the back is giving me grief, and I didn't sleep that well last night because of backpain either.

I know I have an iffy back, and changed the seats in my last waggon (Mk2 Golf GTi) for some Recaro N-Joy items from a broken Escort RS Turbo. These were simply fantastic seats - the most comfortable I have ever sat in, and the time and effort spent welding up new bases to make them fit was worth it many times over.

So, what else fits readily in an S2? I think that the problem with the current seats is the lack of lower back support, and that to get a good driving position (I have long legs and arms, but a short back) I need to put the seat back and very upright. I know that my car has 'standard' seats, and there was a 'sports seat' option, but don't think that this made any difference to lumbar support - it was just bigger wings.

So, what are my options? Currently, I am seriously considering another pair of Recaro N-Joy's, with some more welded bases, hopefully to allow the S2's electric height adjustment feature. This is the cheap bit ... the expensive bit would be the re-trim to make them match the rest of the car.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? It seems that many of the Porsches from this period had the same seats - I have certainly seen 964's sporting the same items, and think that the seats in the 928 are similar if not identical. Therefore, a swap for these wouldn't really work.

Guys,

Thanks for the input.

928 seats? Worth a look. I'll see.

'Getting the lumbar re-worked'? How would I get that done? (I have yet to work out how to take the seat apart, to put some more padding in - that would possibly help quite a lot!)
