Verdict on 997 TT around Milbrook
Discussion
Lucky me. I spent this morning thrashing (for me) a 997 TT manual in Cobalt Blue around Milbrook proving ground. A LOT of fun.
I had breakfast with Richard - a 'professional driving consultant' - followed by a chance to put the 997 TT on the roads before arriving at Milbrook. I did a few good challenging laps around the 'hilly bits', a few laps of the oval at about 140 followed by a standing mile (which has to terminate at 0) when I reached about 165. There was some skid training thrown in - and Richard showed me how a few laps 'should be done'.
The cars handling is stunning. It's acceleration is awesome. It's brakes are even more awesome. I loved it. I have never been in anything even close to it.
Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to drive a Tiptronic for a comparison.

My 165 was also from a rolling start in second (the Millbrook cars have to be resold as 'demonstrators' through the OPC network!), my gear changes were not that slick and there was plenty of room at the end - in other words 165 mph was effortless. I would be interested to know what I could have achieved in a Tiptronic (ie. that does all the hard stuff for me!).
Try out the TT - it's an awesome piece of kit.
