The car doesnt unlock with the key in the slot - or lock for that matter?

Is there some switch or something that has an effect on this - I ask because i know after 5 days the transmitter switches off - and if i cant unlock by the key, well im stuffed!

is there a key slot in the passenger door? I'll have to have a look.

And regarding the fuse - the key works normally (as a remote) but which fuse do i need to check?

There is no passanger key slot in a 996 or boxster.

Your link rod from the barrel to the door lock will not be connected. have seen this before no fuse will help you as its a mechanical override incase of a flat battery or when the alarm system shuts down the remote operation after so many days think its 5.

So are you saying when the reciever shuts down after 5 days the lock is active?

If the lock is inactive now it will still be inactive when the alarm shuts the remote off.

ahh.. so i need to go get it connected then?

dont suppose that sort of thing would be covered under warranty would it?

well I called my local OPC (I was terrified after hearing the horror stories) and they were friendly enough.

The car goes in on Thursday for them to have a look for me - the only sting is the 17 quid they charge for insuring a courtesy car..

Thanks for the mail Jamie - has put my mind at rest
