Is anyone currently selling their car who is also struggling? My Boxster is still for sale, I don't think its at an unreasonable price either, maybe slightly high but there is always room to negotiate. Apart from the interior pictures, do you think there is anything putting off prospective buyers?

Anyone ideas of other places to sell? It's currently in the classifieds, on classic cars for sale, Porsche forum and car and classic. I begrudge Autotrader a little bit as in the past I've had nothing but scammers. Any thoughts?

I think you've definately got a few bits to sell seperately that could allow you to lower the price. I'd put the original wheels back on and sell the GT3 ones. If you can get the basic becker unit for the model, flog the sat-nav one on ebay and maybe even consider selling the hardtop as well. That would allow you to go to mid or low 8K and still get similar money to what you're looking for.
Can you read my mind! That's exactly what I have planned. I honestly thought the Becker sat nav, GT3's and hardtop would be the deal breaker but it doesn't seem to be at the moment.

I think my best bet is to basically strip it of anything extra ober others of a similar age/price. Sell the car, then sell the extras.

Hi

Sorry Paul, but a tip 2.5 is not going to light many peoples fire. Whats the point of a Porsche that isnt quick?

Sorry if I offend many people but Its the truth.
I can think of many reasons, ability, handling, the pedigree.

I reduced the price today and I've had 2 emails about it. Both of them ask the same question. Whats the lowest price you would go to. WTF is the point of putting a price if they are just going to ask that, I thought the etiquette was;

See a car you like.
Ring up about car, if interested.
Discuss car with seller, possibly discuss price.
Arrange to see car.
Visit car.
Haggle on price.
Take it or leave it.

£8900 is fairly low in comparison, tomorrow I'm putting the old alloys back on and taking some new pics. Also not advertising it with the hard top and I'm going to re-advertise it for £8000, see if that can't shift it.

Does this e-mail even warrant a response?

Hi Paul

Thanks for your response mate. Listen I am not in the best of financial predicaments all I can go to for the whole deal (Car, Hard top and wheels) is £7,500.

Now this is not a p*** take and I totally understand if you were to refuse (and you most definitely will) as I too have sold many of my former prestige cars and have been bid silly money, just if you get stuck and have no better offers then it is something you could fall back on if you ever needed to.

If not though best of luck with the sale and thanks for your time

Cheers
E

I just wonder, if he isn't in the best of financial predicaments, why is he buying a Porsche Boxster?

Write back saying " I had only been looking for £7k for it, but as a repsonsible person I cannot sell the car to you because I wouldnt want to get you into debt."

By the tone of his email I can guarantee he is a timewaster
Well that's exactly how I felt when I read it. Why make offers via e-mail, without seeing or driving the car. It might be better than expected, it might be a dog (which it isn't).

He works for RBS so I felt like writing something about him being a time wasting banker, but thought better of it. I have a local dealer who is willing to offer slightly less, £7200 without the hardtop and wheels. It's looking very tempting.

Busy day today. Switched the wheels back to the turbo ones, took the roof down and took a few snaps. Removed the old advert and created a new one. 2 hours later I got a call from a nice chap from Oxford asking about it. 10 min conversation later hes agreed to come and see it tomorrow. No talk of price what so ever.

Whilst I'm on the phone I get a call which I let go through to voicemail. A chap from London ( of african decent by the sound of it) leaves a message and I ring him back. He's wanting to come and see it tomorrow. I tell him I have someone coming in the morning but we he's still keen. Arrange to view tomorrow afternoon bar the other chap not purchasing first!

So tomorrow might be the day, fingers crossed!

Silly me for being so optimistic. Just had the first guy cancel on me by text message. Now I can't get in touch with the second chap to let him know its still for sale!

The text message didn't bother me, I'm just grateful he let me know more than anything. Obviously I would have preferred a phone call so I could judge if he was still interested but its better than not telling me at all.

The GT3 alloys are off the car and available to anyone who wants them. I've not advertised them yet. PM me if you want some pics and info.

Someone off ebay believe it or not. £7900, not a bad price.
