Right guys,

After the disappointment of last Saturday. G-Force have said they would be able to re-host the event on Saturday 29th May starting at 09:00. Again they require a minimum of 12 cars with a maximum of 24. So it's first come first served again. The Price will be £50 per car but this would drop to £40 if we get more than 20 cars. This includes a pre-run level check including oil, tyres and water (if required).

This is the link for their address / map / contact details.

www.g-force-motorsport.co.uk/contact.html

E-mail me your details including -:

Your name,
Pistonheads ID,
Car type,
Colour,
Year,
Registration,
Contact number (optional),

and I'll add you to the list. My e-mail for this event is RR2@planetEarp.net

Cheers, Steve, 996TT

What happened?

I was tempted to put my name down for the test but couldn't due to other commitments. Did something go wrong with this session?

See this thread for details -:

Basically the rolling road broke the night before, so we were sent home. Having been given another date, which hopefully most of us will be able to make.

Hi guys, Im most likely picking up my silver 993 TT this weekend, but I'm not sure I want to know so soon how much horspower she's making, so would it be OK for me to turn up and "hang" with you Porsche enthusiasts, or would that be taking the pee a bit?

Paul,

Feel free to come along and have a chat. Mind you, I do think it's the perfect time to get it on the rollers. You'll get a true comparison against other 993TT's on the same day, same rolling road etc.

Think of it as a health check. The rolling road operators are very experienced and won't test it to destruction (if it's even possible with a 993). I'll put you on the list, then you can decide on the day, no pressure though.

Yes, steer clear of the OPC's. I've just received a £250 refund from my service on my TT because the standard of work was so appaling. Forgetting to change the G/Box oil was one of many problems.

Can you mail me off list which OPC this was. I'm about to get mine serviced (August) and don't want to take somewhere so errr...forgetful. But I do want / need that OPC stamp for my service record / warranty.

2-Barry Jeddo (BarryJ), Red 993TT. (FREE)

Guys,

Good to meet you all and thanks you supporting the event everyone seemed to go away happy. Although I never did get a proper run on my car. For those that don't know the problem was to do with the PSM cutting in near the end of the run (trying to bounce the car off the rollers in the process). A problem G-Force has only seen on one other 996TT. They are going to try and find a solution then invite me back again. But I'm happy with all the other data LAMDA, TORQUE, BOOST PRESSURE etc. It seems pretty clear that the car was healthy, making at least standard power maybe a bit more from aborted runs which read 404bhp with quite a few RPM to go.

I'll post the rest of the guys figures later. They were all pretty much on the dot. Apart from Ian who discovered a few extra horses lurking around...

Drum roll...The following figures were posted by the following cars -:

Ian-Dorrian 993C4S 297.5
Aceparts-com 993TT 393.2
Cyrus 996TT (trip) 395.6
Phelix 993TT 396.1
ME 996TT 4??.?
GuyR 996GT2 458.9

Sorry I've only got the bhp figures but G-Force supplied 4 graphs for each run showing thing like boost pressure and Lamda output. I'm sure the guys would be happy to share their data if anyone has any specific questions.

Cheers, Steve, 996TT

P.S. I'll post my figures if / when I finally get a clean run.

Do you have the rear wheel numbers, rather than the fly-wheel aproximations?

Guys,

I finally got a proper run at full revs today and got 459.6bhp which was 372.7 at the wheels and 450ft/lbs of torque. Which I'm pretty chuffed with. Now for some mods...

So yours must have the X50 kit fitted?

Nope it's a standard car with a cargraphic exhaust. I guess it's loosend up a bit or something...

Ian,

Yep, chuffed. The car should be 420bhp out of the box, the exhaust gives 20bhp. So I'm left with an extra 20bhp from somewhere. Everything else is standard even the air filter. Boost pressure is standard. It's weird, it probably explains why it uses so much fuel (14mpg with a max of 21mpg) compared to other 996 turbos though. All the figures at the bottom of the graph are pretty similar too temp, humidity, atmos. So it's probably a fair test.

ig,

Thats why I wanted to get as many owners as possible to come along on the rolling road day. To compare like with like on the same day on the same rollers. Apart from Ian all the other cars were slightly down on power rather than up (even the GT2 only made 458.9). We'll never know for sure though unless we all do it again (somewhere else?) next year.

Steve, 996TT

P.S. Guy what did your GT2 do at the wheels?

Guy,

RUF'D! sounds interesting what did they do for you? Let us know when you're thinking of putting it back on the rollers.
