Cheap 996 GT3 Cup?
Discussion
This seems exceptionally cheap for what it is, or am I deceived?

maybe??? i have never seen a rhd cup car....
the interior fitments visible look too conventional exactly like a C2.
There is no remark on the engine or output.
I could be way off here, but it looks like a very good conversion on a C2 to me with some serious money having been spent. It does look like a lot of fun anyhow.

I would guess that Clubsport is right, especially since the ad states "£12K just spent".
I couldn't afford it although I'd love to. Just thought it was worth pointing out.
may have been actually raced.
I saw that car parked outside the M+S in fulham Broadway last thursday night. It looked stunning.
But for that price I would say it has to be an ex race car.

unless anyone has ever heard of RHD Cup Cars.........?

Early cup cars were 3.4 not GT3 power, so maybe an early 3.4 cup car made in RHD or perhaps a converted LHD to RHD. It may now have GT3 engine retro-fitted hence £12k just spent? or be a normal C2 3.4 stripped & caged up, could also be an HPI spanked normal 996 thats been repaired, can be very cheap to buy a spanked 996C2.
If GT3 powered then yes a lot of go for the ££ (a lot cheaper than Richard Long spent on making his GT3 an R anyway!!) & I bet a huge amount of fun, but tough to say if its a bargain without knowing exactly what it is.
Looks great in the pics tho doesnt it

I've emailed the seller to find out more information. I know someone who might be interested in it so i'll see what i get back.
Baffle him with your tech knowledge rico, im sure you can bid him down when he is faced with a punter with your extensive knowledge & experience of the marque
Iguana....I remember your write up of that....but was it a cup car?
I thought a specific number of C2 were taken from the factory,,,given a slightly different chassis number and converted for racing in the porsche cup series.
So why would one not race? particularly as it would have no doubt cost more for the factory to make a rhd version....where is the advantage of a rhd car on track?
Seems to me some people choose to rip the interior out, stick some dodgy seats and harnesses in and call it cup car.????
Nothing wrong with that of course as I would be happy to entertain offers in excess of £100k for my very rare RS le mans edition,,,which curiously never raced

CS no need to abuse the merkin wagon like that
Yeh not sure on the chassis number front, coz despite my ragging of Melv not having a 'real' RS he can counter with having a pukka porsche race car with a competition car chassis number, rather than a normal 964 one that just happens to have an RS badge.
So indeed maybe the Udrive RHD 996 cup one was just drawn from the 'normal' RHD C2 stock & doesnt have a competition chassis number. All the cup bits obtained through porker competition dept I was told tho.
Oh advantage of RHD on track- well your not always sitting on the downhill side & thus being thrown into the door on all the UK clockwise circuits are you! paddock hill bend lingers strongly in my mind for that....
On a semi serious note, when its all happening in a bit of a frenzy some people do prefer to do what comes naturally, which if you are used to RHD on a LHD can mean smashing your left hand up against the door when you go to change gear..... not that ive dislocated my little finger by doing that of course or anything.....
I mean Melv has an excuse for LHD, the rest of you on the other hand are just cheapskates
Dusty- no not at 'Lemons' -mail me old bean.

? Slightly rich from a man who doesn't believe in owning a car worth more than a grand
Oi Cheapskate-sport, I can get the race relations lot onto you for that comment.
You see my religion is Pikeafarian, which means we have to have cheapo cars- and lots and lots of them, its in our bible- which happens to be the bargain cars section of the Autotrader.
I've been dragged up before the chief Pike on several occasions when ive not only spent well over the allowed amount, but have also on a few occasions had MOT, road tax, & insurance all of which are of course very sinfull in my religion.
