Ouch! was he an experienced driver of hi powered rear wheel drive cars?
I wouldnt mind people driving my car but would think twice about letting someone drive a GT2
When I drive other peoples cars I always drive extra carefully and never take liberties with it! Wouldnt want to face em after crashing their Pride and joy.

DOH (_8(/)
What about the impact this is likely to have on the re-sale value. Presumably a crashed car is going to show signs of repair no matter how well its done!?
So, bloke who owns car is not only having to wait whilst his p&j gets repaired, but will take a hit in the wallet area himself when he decides its time to part company with this particular car.

Not sure why people do this. It's a car with controls, just like any other (I know, I've got one). Your granny could drive it safely. You've really got to work at it to send it off the road. Why would you hammer it when...
a) You don't know the car
b) It's somebody elses
Just idiots I suppose.

Spoke to him again last night.
He's most pissed off about the fact he's hardly driven the car (only 2 days!). He previously had a 996 GT2-lookalike that really didn't 'do it' for him. So he traded it in for this GT2 and loved it.
He hasn't mentioned resale value yet
Wonder whether his mate will stump up for consequential losses? Would you?

Would you?I actually lost a friend (he became a twat anyway)through his constant requests to drive my Elise and M3 and my reply was: Yeah, I will but you'll have to give me the cost of the car in cash for me to keep before I'll let you drive in case you prang it. Never, ever let someone drive your motor.
A lot of it is the responsibility of the chap driving it though. I've previously turned down the offer of a drive in a mate's pride & joy simply because of the fear of damage & having to pay for it. The times I've taken mates up on their offers, its been driven like a baby carriage (except the odd straight line blat in a 355... and then there was the Range Rover in a field... and then..
) On the flip side, I've lent cars out quite a few times and expect the same. On both sides (borrowing or lending) the drive starts with a conversation of "you bend it you mend it".

It's just as bad if the thing breaks when you are caning it. I wouldn't let people drive my Lotus Carlton as the timing chains were like chocolate. New engine from Vauxhall was a reasonable 26k.
It was a bit of a pussycat to drive (very softly sprung) but every time the rev counter went into the red, so did my bank account

I was shocked when nonegreen let me drive his 965. I may have driven relatively fast but only on straights and didn't pull any daft stunts. I do like to think of myself as a careful driver and wouldn't put myself or anyone else (let alone Fifi!) in danger!!!
I'm very protective over my baby so would have to know the person was competant and I'd like to be with them! Bad enough when my dad drives (likes to be in 4th gear at 30+mph NOT 2nd!!!!)

i think i can beat that.
on monday my wife ....... need i say more.... parked the family car on the driveway (which hasa slight slope). didn't put brakes on properyly and a few minutes after leaving the car it rolled back, hit the garage door which contains my p&j. the garage is small and there is about a 10cm gap between the door and the car. the door has been pushed in about a foot. the door is also now jammed and i can't open it to find out the damage to the car. am waiting for insurance assessors to come round on friday.
i have suggested to the wife that she starts running.
