As time goes by and as experience has shown, I have the impression the Tuscan R will never make it as a road car, just like:
- The original Tuscan Speed six: looked like a sharped-up Griffith, remember the white prototype.
- The original Speed 12 (the big purple abomination)

Any opinions welcome

I was under the impression that they had already taken deposits for the Tuscan R.

The one on the TVR website is marvellous looking.

They also took deposits for the Speed 12 as I remember?

I thought they had actually built and sold Speed 12's?

Or do you mean the original as opposed to the Cerbera variant.

I was refering to certain "orders" taken at the 1999 (?) Motor Show when a number of "music types" (no idea who - JK?) were supposed to have said they would have them at £150k. Obviously they went on to build them for racing purposes but not as original planned. R...

Ahhh yes I remember now.

Keith Flint of the Prodigy was rumoured to have ordered one as I remember.

Lovely car, but I honestly think they improved on it taking panels from the Cerbera.

He's (JK that is) a big fan of italian cars, at least he was until two of his mates stuffed his 355 F1 Spyder into the side of his Diablo on a video shoot about 2 years ago!

Shame...

As far as I know there has never been a customer spec Speed 12, Cerbera or otherwise, nor a Tuscan R.

There are 2 or 3 race cars of both, no more.

Strikes me it's a way to get round the regs and there never will be any road cars.

Save you're deposit and buy a 360 Modena.
Yes I know the perfomance in a straight line is less, thanks.

I visited the factory in November and had a tour, but was told I wasn't allowed into development as the Tuscan R road car was in there and was not for public viewing (I've been allowed in there on previous occassions).

Also BS told me that if you wanted a race spec road car you could probably have it in the spring (2002), however a civilised road version wouldn't be available until the end of the year....

When I visited last week, we were allowed to look in the development area but not take any pictures...

Inside they had a stripped down Cerbera Speed 12, sitting alongside one of the "road-going" models. I couldn't believe how wide the thing was. It was painted in a Rosso Red type colour...

Also, near there was a Tuscan R car, with the entire shell made out of Carbon Fibre.

As far as I am aware there were two Speed 12's built... a white racing variant and a purple pearlescent road going variant...

Due to a change in racing catagory regulations, this became the Cerbera Speed 12... oh which there is a silver (registered) road going car and a blue race variant.

As for the Tuscan R... who knows?

To the best of my knowledge the history is as follows:

Speed 12:

White racer and purple show car. Can't recall hearing what happened to the white car (assume in bits at the factory), but the purple one was covered in dust at the factory some time ago.

Cerbera Speed 12:

1 blue race car became black, white, then black again, then was smashed at Thruxton.
1 white race car, became black to replace the smashed one.
1 silver 'road' car became the red one that was mentioned in lower in the thread.

Odd isnt it, perhaps its to perpetuate image in the market place or something like that.

When I bought my Chim I asked my dealer if they had taken any orders for the Cerb Sp12, they said that they had had a chap waiting for a while but they could take orders if I want to place one.

I wish!
