Should i get one?
Cars 7 years old i get lines on the screen only when turning the ignition off i don't know if this is normal or the signs of it beginning to go.
Any help please
Thanks
Lines at when you start the ignition dont necessarily mean its starting to go - my new one does this still. However they clear as soon as the ecu boots up so only visible for a split second. However - my car is a 2002 and was absolutely fine - then just went one day - lines missing across several sections of the display. Got better and worse, but on the day i couldnt see oil pressure i thought enough was enough - i hadnt just spend several thousand pound on an engine rebuild to not see the oil pressure and risk damage...
I only have 6 left now, 4 more already gone on ebay
If anyone else does want one, only 4 left, 2 more sold overnight on eBay.
I have certainly had chance to practice soldering!! It was pretty fiddly so had to buy myself a micro soldering iron but i have had some fun doing something good for the Tuscan guys on PH...after all with the knowledge on here it has been invaluable to me, dont think i would have bought my second Tiv without knowing PH was here.
Some tips for those fitting soon...
When you take everything apart you will probably have to unscrew the stepper motor for the speedo, i had to. When you put this back together, it doesnt matter where the speedo sits as the stepper motor will drive it back until the switch tells the motor its at zero, BUT make sure that the fit between the worm screw and plastic speedo needle gear is loose, they can bind on each other if they are too tight. They can be tweaked once installed, i know cause i fitted it too toght first time and had to tweak.
When you turn on your ignition for the first time you may have to adjust your contrast, i did, this can be done same as shift lights in the menu's section of the dash, accessed by pressing and holding the dash screen cycle button and lights button down for a few seconds. You kind of have to guess at your contrast, i think i set mine to 4.
HTH,

Got home and a very well wrapped parcel waiting for me, my new screen all ready to fit .
Thanks Rob cracking job and a testament to the Piston head spirit to help others.
Just got to find the time to fit the screen now - how long do you think it will take to swop over if all goes well.
Dave, should take about 3 hours to take out, split down, swap screen, rebuild and re-install with no hiccups. Thanks Rob cracking job and a testament to the Piston head spirit to help others.

Only just spotted this thread. Maybe to late but could do with one if still available? If you have any PM me and cash on its way Ta Dave.
I have two left that i havent yet receieved money for but that people have said they want, If i havent had any replies from them in the next 24 hours then i will drop you a note. Wish there had been more available.
By the way, there is one on eBay that i havent withdrawn yet and cant til i get home tonight cause of restricted net access, minimum offer is set to £67 if you want that one (£63 if you want to wait and risk it). I will be withdrawing later if it hasnt gone because of those on PH that have said they want them.
its quite unnerving but so long as your careful and methodical its not difficult! glad it all went OK, havent a scooby do about that error though?
Just saw the comment re testing - no i havent tested them, to be honest there was no way of doing so. At over two hours a change for thirty of the b*ggers it would have taken days and probably damaged my dash!!
