Bonnet Removal

I was told that removing the bonnet under my speed six was for dealers only? Is this true if not is it easy to open,I'd love to see my engine

You need an extra pair of hands but it is possible. I have seen it done before on sixspeeds car but I have not done it on my Tuscan.

Do you have to remove the bonnet to access the lights?

There are 2 bolts at the very fron of the bonnet section, and 2 more around the point the front section closes on to, once they are removed then you have 2 catches at the windscreen end, they are sliders which hold a ball connection in place, so push them in (towards the outside of the car if you see what I mean) and this will release the bonnet, then lift it up and off - making sure you clear the oil, power steering and water fillers and then you can see your nice lump of Blackpools finest metal! More recent cars have the engine builders name on a plate on the front of the engine - mine was built by a certain "S JACKSON"

It is possible to remove the bonnet on your own, but 2 people is so much easier - oh and be carefull where you put it, you dont want someone walking on it!!

I'd recommend laying a blanket over the roof of the car too so no scratches on the paint work.

The roof??? I just lifted it over the FRONT of the car, seemed easier, but I guess that depends on the room available

He meant put a blanket on the roof then sit the bonnet on the blanket...
I've seen a couple of dealers do it.

I was thinking more along the lines that the main bonnet has to be slid out from under the front bonnet up towards the windscreen. A blanket on the roof protects the paintwork around the screen and roof, and of course allows a convenient place to balance/rest the bonnet down on out of harm's way.

I've never done it though - so I may have to edit this if that proves to be complete B10LOX.
