I am currently investigating fires that have happened to TVR Tuscan 6 Speeds. I am primarily interested to hear of any fires to cars built around 2000/2001 and that caught fire whilst moving. I already know about 4 fires in the uk and possibly one in Japan.

Anybody know of any more?

May I ask why you’re enquiring?

Yes sorry, I am a lawyer acting for someone (unable to give details) who purchased such a vehicle in 2000. I am therefore interested to know how many similar cases there might be.

Taking a stab in the dark, Mr/Ms Tranter is possibly an insurance assessor and is trying to find a way of putting a claim against TVR if there are few Tuscans that have cought fire.

I had something similar with an insurance assessor who did a very thorough job of investigating prior to paying out.

Tranter, have you posted under the Tuscan section. You may get a quicker response, but I could be wrong.

yes, mine caught fire on my driveway after being unused for 4 days!!!

June 2000 Red Rose Tuscan, had new engine and service 3 weeks before.

Apparently, forsenic investigator believed it was 'corrosion of the battery tray that caused the battery to arc and cause an electrical fire'.

Thanks for that. I have just sent you an e-mail.

I would be very interested to speak to you if possible. I am particularly keen to speak with you as I note that your insurance company did tell TVR.

Check out problems with the cats and the ignition circuity, a miss fire could cause fuel to ignite in the cats, rather than in the combustion chamber, causing them to get very hot
