Actually it's not really "infuriating" but the alliteration was too tempting. hehe

I've noticed a couple of occasions when the fan switch decides not to work. I thought at first it was just when cold and it was being smart because there was no hot air to pump round. But then it's worked since and it started working this morning and then.....

....

....

So, sod's law says it'll start working again if I take it to The Garage. Has anyone else had similar?

Ah-ha.

That sounds likely. (Bet Mrs Beano's kicked it!)

Given the comprehensiveness of the manual and my general patience levels if I have to go rooting around in the today...

...can you be more specific about where it is?

Yes, I know, I've had this TVR for two and a half years and it's amazing I've even managed to get the doors open...
rolleyes hehe

They are velcro fixed to the far left side underneath the dash.

With mine it was a dry joint where the fan cable plugs into the temperature sender. You can find this located under the air box.

Mine did this for ages, and then eventually it just died. No heat, and no fan.
With mine the ECU gets very hot (and I am told this is the norm with Tuscans), and the multi-plug into the ECU actually melted, so I ordered a new mutiplug. I figured that a lot of the heat buildup was due to high resistance due to crimped connectors on a couple of the high-current wires (the big earth and the big 12v one) going into the ECU so I decided to solder each wire into the multi-plug rather than crimp them. Hasn't given me a days bother since.

Thanks for your assistance chaps!

Now I've had a gander.

Pull carpet back and everything just spills out! Typical TVR!

Anyway, would you care to confirm what I'm looking at:

Head control unit - as made by Darryl hehe

But what's the other little gizmo with the copper (?) wire and two connectors?

Looks like "Heat control unit" to me, any way that is the item I was refering to. The other item looks like the A/C Trinary switch used for detecting pressure level of the air conditioning system.

Cheers - don't know why I typed "head" twice! I can read it says "heat".... D'oh! (You can't get the staff these days!!! rolleyes )

Oh so that's for the A/C? Ta. That's two things I've learnt today!

So the control unit connections all seem fine, although the unit is just sitting there loose and could easily be a problem.

Try turning the fan on via the switch, then wiggling the wires / plug backwards and forwards - that'll tell you if you're 'warm'.

I have the same problem.

Internal fans switching themselves on and off randomnly as I go over a bump.

Beano did you fix yours? Looks like I need to crawl under the dash at the weekend
