leak in back footwell on a golf mk4 any one help
Discussion
It is very common on Seat Leons' which are of course based on the Golf and suffer many of the same problems. Usually it is the seal on the ancillary hanger (the metal panel behind the door panel) where after a period of time the foam/rubber seal degrades and lets in water. The leak can often be the front door but the water runs backwards making the rear wet.
It is fairly easy, if a bit time consuming to resolved. Basically take off the door panel, undo main bolts around the metal panel and seal with silicone sealant.
Best way to test is to dry the door sills (front and rear) and then close doors and run the hosepipe over the doors/windows then open and see if/where the sills are wet - this will help identify which door and where the leak is coming from.

Similar problem to that found on Skoda Fabias, too -but thought that problem only occurred on Fabias .There's a great deal on this leak in Fabias(and how to cure it on Fabias) on Briskoda and a lot of Techs trained on the whole VAG range there too ,who could possibly advise if this is same problem, but at present Briskoda is down -only advice if you want to look on there is to keep on trying .(WWW.BRISKODA.NET)It is fairly easy, if a bit time consuming to resolved.
