Tuscan-eers!

Ah.... the 'small jobs to fix' just keep on coming.

I now have a jacuzzi in my boot. The seal looks fine with no apparent cuts our splits.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Puzzling if not the seal.

Although some Griffs/Chims I can remember had problems with ingress via the fuel filler area? scratchchin Could be an issue if parked up at teh sort of angle for water to settle around that area?

Otherwise it's not coming in from the top!

Can be from the rear lights , the mastic that bonds them in can leak after some time.

Thanks troops.....

There is not a swimming pool amount, but the carpets are sodden, so need to dry them out (again)..... I'll have a look at the lights and underneath!....

Thanks as always

Martin.

Correct - also hairline cracks in the fibre glass that are imperceptible can cause water ingress over time. I have had this issue with my boot for ages now, and at the start of ownership, also had water ingress around the fuel filler. Both fixed with some careful application of a decent sealant. I now keep a couple of towels in the base of my boot along with packs of silica gel higher up to suck up general moisture. Car also under a cover.

I've also noticed the carpet trim around the fuel filler pipe on mine is quite damp.

Got to get some mastic or silicone around the metal fixture on the well outside the boot. Is it an easy job to remove the cap/'filler neck'.

Had the same prob with mine so I jumped in the boot, shut the lid and saw more light than darkness. The seal was at least 10mm from the boot lid....you get that.

Yeah, it was a squeeze. I asked Skippy to come down in a few mins and let me out but it must have slipped his mind.....he's a bugger.

Had that same problem the 1st day I bought the car. Took some time to figure it out...

It was indeed the seal from the rear lights, but its an easy fix - get some black silicon sealant for around 3-4 quid from halfords, and you'll be waterproof in no time.
It might be a good idea to get a siringe with a wider needle end and put some sealant from the outside of the lights, right between the edge of the light where it meets the body.

Good luck!

I've got the same problem on my Tuscan. I'll give that a try.

I do keep it in doors, but when I use it during the day it sometimes rains. I just wish I could drive it everywhere in doors.

I've applied clear bathroom sealant to around the back lights. Lets hope that works.

Had similar issue with mine last year.

There is a small water drainage hole in the gulley that runs around the boot, in the corner near the hinge. Trapped water drains into the rear wheel arch. It was blocked on my car with some debris (leaves etc). When it rained (whilst the car was parked up) the water level was able to rise high enough to get over the rubber seal and into the boot.

Cleaned out the drain hole, problem solved. May be worth checking.

Ok Thanks Bishy, If the sealant on the rear light doesn't work I'll give that a try.
