Hi all,

Took the Tuscan for its MOT this afternoon (first one by me) and it failed on...

Both front indicators not orange enough!

To be fair they were a little pale, but I didn't think they would be bad enough to fail. Replaced the bulbs this evening after much swearing and skin removal.

Not had a car fail its MOT for years, so feel a little bit gutted. I had planned to fit my NTEL decays tonight, but they'll have to wait until the weekend now.

Fingers crossed for the retest.

mine went in last week, took a while to get it through the idle emissions but other than that all fine (apart from advisory on the tyres but then I knew they were low).

Got to say the Tiv is the only car that I have owned that passes its MOT's without fault.

there are all sorts of people that tend to take their occupation too serious
normally that would be wimen.
you'll never walk away from a female police officer without a ticket.
female border officers have longer lines and female insurance officers will never give you a break.
this MOT guy could have let you pass with telling you to change the lights.
there are idiots everywhere
glad my own son does my MOT
and if he fails me i'll kick his ass (decatted and sleeved :0))

Mine's failed for that two years running now at different test stations, on both the fronts and side repeaters. It must be global warming...

Always get my MOT at a TVR indie - tend to be a bit more understanding of TVR foibles.

I would normally get the MOT done as part of the service, but the dates didn't work out. I was a little apprehensive taking the Tuscan to a non TVR friendly place, should have expected problems. You live and learn smile

All being well the decats will be fitted after the retest on Friday evening. I just hope replacing the cats goes more smoothly than changing indicator bulbs lol...

My Tuscan's just failed, emissions! Any advice ? They've said the lambda probes might need replaced, they're a bit pricey at £155 each from Racing Green frown

I can't offer any advice regarding emissions other than perhaps getting a second opinion from a TVR indy before buying a pair of lambdas.

Good news is it passed the retest this afternoon and they didn't charge me even though they advertise a retest fee. To be fair it took all of two minutes to check the lights. However, I did manage to take a chunk out of the front splitter when manouvering the car into the garage. So that's got to come off again for sone filling and painting (repainted it only a couple of weeks ago!).

Can't decide whether to fit the decats or go to the pub tonight...

Can i surgest to ask the mot tester to stick the test probe some where else the sun dosnt shine!!! like up the ass end of a ford fkus
Dose any TVR leagaly pass emissions?
Mine aint been that far yet.

Good job MOD vehicles dont go for MOT tests if Tuscans fail on indicator colors or we would never of had any Landys in service

My Tuscan just passed its MOT again without any problems......however there was an "advisory notice" that the indicator lenses were starting to fade.

Better track down where to get a pair ready for next year.

Any more advice on lambda probes? Do they need to be specially modified ones supplied by a specialist parts dealer, or are there off the shelf replacement parts which are cheaper ? It's a 51 Tuscan.

Not sure when they changed over. If they are 3 wire sensors then you are stuck with the TVR supplied modified landrover units, as the standard LR ones can't cope with the heat.

Ok I got a look today. 4 wire lambda probes, two of them white, one grey, one black. Any advice on make/model numbers/best prices ?
