And it's in a little black box, mine was cable-tied to keep it closed.

Thanks guys. Since posting the question I had just found it in it's nice little fuse box. Thanks for the replies

Checked and there's a nice 125 Amp fuse in there so that's not the reason for my flat battery. I'll check the other one but then I'm lost as to why the battery keeps going flat. Can't see any reason, no lights etc on.

Maybe put it down to the battery just not coping with the winter despite being on trickle charge. It was new 2 years ago but I let it go flat once before about a year or so ago which won't have helped

OK, so where in the passenger footwell is the fuse? Looked up under the dash where the heater ECU is but can't find it.

Probably just a knackered battery. If it's gone flat one before, and then it's been left for ages to slowly loose its charge, that'll kill a lead acid battery, as it did mine. Now put an Optima Red top in which is much better and also seems to have magically cured some random intermittent electrical gremlins which is a bonus!

Yeah my door opening switch had now decided to pause and think about opening the door for 3 - 4 seconds after you press the button!

Got to be a new battery

You need to pull the carpet back from the footwell bulkhead...and re-glue... (I think)

Possible cause for the battery going flat is the boot light staying on, try removing the bulb.

Boot Light?? I can definitely not remember seeing any light when I open the boot... Where might that be then?? Maybe the former owner removed the bulb too.. :-)

Thanks Nick. I had heard about the boot light staying on and previously unplugged it.

Checked internal light, boot light, headlights, and everything I can think of that might be draining the battery. I never set the alarm whilst it's in the garage so it can't be that.

I've resigned myself to it being the battery and ordered a Red Top this pm

Might not be related, but I had this on my Chim. Turned out to be the radio wiring - had a permanent (as opposed to ignition) live and some circuits in the raido were draining the battery even though it was switched off. If you've had a radio change, that might be it.

I had similar issues with my battery and changed to a red top last week. Until then the car was hard to start especially 1st thing or when really hot. It also stalled very easily after 1st start up.

With the red top all of these issues have been solved, car now starts 1st time every time. Windows also move alot quicker and the car just generally feels more lively.

All in very happy with the switch!
