This is not that new, EV accelerations may also in line for a capping for some manufacturers in future.
I was on a project utilizing safety AI with variable limit based on local limits, road risk map, driving quality and weather to reduce insurance as part of the financing package strategy for poorer & younger drivers.
Future could look like a visit to dodgy dan to get acceleration cap & limiter removed.
