RE: Coventry Company Buys Out Spyker
Discussion
CPP are very very capable and their Coventry facilities are beyond impressive. I had the opportunity to have a look around a couple of years ago.
These are definitely some of the safer hands Spyker could have ended up in.
Well done CPP for getting public recognition for the work you do and have already been doing behind the scenes forever. I sincerely hope this is a constructive project and not some grubby little money shuffle as has been suggested above. The UK desperately needs this kind of industry rebirth so I for one am hopeful about this.

Evo, I was replying to Escort-S130 who said "I agree, seems the biritsh only do well in building houses, office spaces or restaurants and fried chicken shops. Manufacturing in the UK is dead." Not only can he not spell his own country but he is utterly incorrect. As I have said he is talking nonsense given our position as the 6th largest manufacturing country.
As for specialist car manufacture we have indeed lost many but have also many new ones. Compared to most other countries we have far more. It is a very difficult business to be in and getting more difficult due to legislation and customer demands. I concur and wish them every success.

So Spyker buy Saab, then sell Spyker. What was the point in buying Saab then?
That's easyThe leading management of Spyker buy Saab for 2p and then borrow huge amounts of money from the banks and the EU to keep it going.
The leading management of Spyker then pay themselves massive wages out of the money they've got from the banks/EU while actually investing very little in the product, the plant or the marketing.
The leading management of Spyker then sell the only tangible asset they have in order to ring fence any capital for themselves before....
Saab come crashing down, leaving massive debts and hundreds of people out of work, while the EU tax-payers and the banks shareholders pick up the tab. (How many new shape 9-5s have you actually seen on the road?)
Leaving the leading management of Spyker to say "Sorry everyone," before riding off into the sunset secure in the knowledge that they'll never have to work again while everyone else who spent their lives working for a once proud brand is left penniless, unemployed and wondering how they are going to put food on the table.
Its called Doing A Rover.
And now here's Tom with the weather... How's it looking, Tom?

27mil for 2 car companies sounds cheap, Specially when considering footballers sell for more, until you look at it in perspective. How many millions will it take to get the brand back to where it should be. MG are making a come back, so maybe Saab could succeed, I certainly hope so.

Just about sums it up. I don't know about Spyker, but can anyone really see Saab surviving another year? The leading management of Spyker buy Saab for 2p and then borrow huge amounts of money from the banks and the EU to keep it going.

Both of you grow up, get better informed or move country. The UK is the 6th largest manufacturing country in the world....fact. It is twits like you and Clarkson who continue with these myths. Get out there and support our industries.richb77 said:

We may well be the sixth largest manufacturing country in the world (not long ago we were the fourth!), but you need to go out and check just how much of it is owned and run by 'us'?
Virtually bugger all now!
So, reality is that it is NOT our industries. It gives employment which is about the only good thing, BUT there is a massive downside - a foreign-owned British company can suddenly decide to 'up and go', as has happened.
