Phantom, those 2007 registered cars are ones that have slowly come through and people are selling them on for whatever reason. There 'allegedly' was a dispute between prodrive and the factory in Germany building them and production was halted for several months around the time that chassis no.50 was produced (mine is 71), then there was a technical hitch/recall on the first 50 so that delayed things. all the preceding is relayed as information I was given so cannot confirm it as fact. What is a fact is mine arrived here on Thursday and now awaiting the registration confirmation, tax disc etc so I can collect it and start driving!
There are plenty of vehicles that if you want your own spec you may have to wait 6 months to 2 years or more but could get an alternative right now.
I went to a Prodrive lecture a few weeks back. The lecturer briefly showed us some pictures of a development leaning car that they are playing with. It'll have 4 wheels and will roll "naturally" not enforced by hydruaulics (not making a judgement about either by the way). Anyway, I note you mentioned Prodrive in your post (quoted) and thought it odd that when I mentioned to the lecturer that their leaning car was similar in concept to the Carver, he never mentioned their link to the Carver.
Are they building them, or did they help with the development?
Definitely got one of these on my lottery-win wish list.

Hey guys, on topic but kind of off in a way too:

This is a very, very real project (I've interviewed the company owner) and takes Carver ownership very much to the next level!

The Carver is as Pistonheads as you can get. It sticks two fingers up at Brown and his cronies who want to make driving as dull as possible by providing stoopid-face jollies at ordinary speeds. I have seen two or three now and their drivers all have a vaguely manic look in their eyes, as if they are unable to wait for the next slight deviation in the road - even in a 30 limit. A Porsche or a Lambo are less fun to drive at 30 than an Aixam, but matey in his Carver is having a ball. The 600cc engine and three wheels means bike road-tax which pisses Bonkers Brown off even more.
I may be wrong, but I am under the impression that the Carver uses the three-pot engine and six-shift from the Smart Roadster (Clarkson muttered something to this effect when the Carver was first released to the Press). If this is so, out with the lawnmower engine, in with the Fireblade/Hyabusa lump and transmission - Carver Diablo anybody?
