A policeman has been booked for parking illegally as he sat in a van trying to catch speeding motorists.

The Pc from Gwent Police was on duty in Cwm, Ebbw Vale, south Wales, when a member of his own force issued him with a £30 fine for parking on a single yellow line.

He had been sitting in a detection vehicle, which is operated by both South Wales Police and Gwent Police.

Assistant Chief Constable Bill Horne, of Gwent Police Force, said: "It is not our policy to comment on the detail of any matter that could be the subject of court action.

"We can confirm that the driver of a Mid and South Wales Area Safety Camera Partnership vehicle was recently issued with a fixed penalty notice."
Sweet. Oh, so sweet. Someone in the Police force has a sense of humour.

Its about time.

The Tax collector that sits in Billericay likes to sit in a bus stop, which I thought was illegal, parking in a bus stop.. Like to see him get a ticket too.

Does anybody know what happens if you report one of those vans to the police as a 'suspicous' van acting in a suspicous manner?

Having been stopped countless times over the years, I recently saw a cop car (Astra I think) heading through our village with a rear light out ... christ did I change down or what to try and catch the b@st@rd up – would have made my night flashing him and pulling him over – and I'd have done it too.

Shame was, he was doing 60-70mph (in a 30mph) answering a call (more than likely his mate had radioed through that they were running out of BLT sandwiches up at the local garage)

How come I have to 'pay thru the bloody little window' in pi55ing December freezing me knacks off and they're standing inside with the pick of the b@st@es sarnies?!

I hear that if another vehicle is parked behind a gatso van, it becomes illegal for them to take pictures. Not sure about this one, but it does make the propsect of pulling up behind one rather more interesting... and not illegal to do so either.

Unless its sat on a single yellow, or in Billericay they think a Bus Stop is the ideal place for the tax man.... Then you get done as well as him..
I think the best idea is to take a photo of them and then submit it to the press.. Keep harassing them as much as they harass us

One thing that strikes me as a whole looking through these threads is the lack of respect for the Police. Now, I am not defending them at all. But it seems that they have completely lost the confidence of the British Public. Thats quite an alarming thing to say and worrying to the fact that they need to do something about it.....

I am in the same boat, I dont trust them at all. Too many cases of lies, double standards and revenue generation for me. They should be impartial and transparent (the organisation rather than the people).

Hardly any suprise that this is the case as we currently have a "crime wave" according to the media.... When will the Police ever learn?

Cheers,

Paul

IMO, the problems that manifest themselves in our perception of the police arise from the inefficacy of the judicial system, which is more interested in persecuting motorists than jailing thieving violent scrotes. This demotivates the police who generally do pull their tripes out to do the best they can, only to have their results made a sham by the courts.

But also, if you consider the way the police are being deployed as part of a government strategy to villify the motorist, they have quite blatantly become a tool of this governments oppression - as indeed they were for Thatch during the miners strikes and the poll tax riots..

Although there are good and bad individual policemen and they largely do their best in crappy circumstances, like any other career where there's a degree of power involved, sometimes that power is used inappropriately by individuals - particularly when the esteem of one's position is constantly undermined by having to uphold the stupidity of the latest Westminster decree..

So really it's no wonder that the public perception of the police is not a good one, though you need to look beneath the surface to indentify the real causes - invariably politicians, judiciary and civil service.

On the other hand, they're all power crazed tit-headed bastards...
