Minotaur Mk2

Handbuilt British supercar ready to roll

British company Vision Sportscars has unveiled a new £65,000 sports car. The firm was running under license from the now-defunct Pilgrim Cars, and the Minotaur is the first model from the company under Pilgrim's ex-helmsman, Tony Holmes.

The Mk2 Minotaur (pronounced 'Min-o-tour') is handmade in a factory in Sussex, but its proportions were penned by a Greek designer named John Forakis. A 5.7-litre Chevrolet V8 sits behind the driver, churning out 350bhp, which should be enough to give this 1160kg sports car respectable performance.

Attached to it is a Renault 21 Turbo UN1 Transaxle, and a stainless-steel exhaust system that employs a bridging pipe to connect the twin pipes, apparently for purely aural reasons. The standard car also features an electrically adjustable moving pedal box, twin alloy foam filled petrol tanks and twin alloy radiators.

The cabin has received considerable attention, apparently designed to keep everything in reach, and employs a multifunctional screen, which can be a display for the reversing camera, a DVD player and a radio, with the option to add sat nav and a television.

Vision Sportscars boasts that service and parts bills should be no more than a standard family car, so we presume that there are some parts bin bits here. Recognise those headlights anyone...?

Isn't 350bhp a bit low for a 5.7l V8?.

Looks awesome.

Looks very home-made. Right choice of colour and trim might make a lot of difference though. But this exact car doesn't do much for me.

I think it looks horrid, the interior is st, wrong colour for a launch / showcase car, chavvy head and rear lights, who's going to buy it for £65k?

You can get a plethora of MUCH nicer slightly used / new exotica for that sort of money, I just can't see a market for it.

That reminds me of the 90's Cosworth powered Panther Solo, albeit a slightly larger squashed version... biggrin

Oh dear, yikes I remember these being around about 15/20 years ago and they looked rubbish then and still do now, what a shame for the guys building the things. They should have put their money into something small and light. Remember Ferrari 360 Spyder's are going for less than £50k now!

Looks like they built the interior from plywood from B&Q and the clad the whole car with what they could find in the halfords parts bin. A bit nasty if you ask me.
