I took it in this morning.hopefully it`ll be something cheap(not likely).they`ll probably move the engine slightly to stop the exhaust rubbin on the chassis, like they did last time(lasted about an hour).hopefully they`1l get to the bottom of the pinking as well(been in for this before with no joy!)
They said they would ring me this `aft to let me know how they have gone on.
I`ll let you know

I`ve just got of the phone to them.I forgot to mention it needed an m.o.t.It failed on emissions and a tyre. Not bad you`d think.well £380+ vat for my catalytic converter reconditioned!(not even a new one!) and £140+ vat for the tyre.
thats before they fit anything and start investigating the heater and pinking problems.
Hell fire,I thought this would be the cheapest visit to the dealer compared to the other 15 or so times its been there. Its looking like another grand!
can anybody help ease the pain and tell me if theres any where i could get a cat cheaper?
thanks!

Dont bother - take both cats off and get it MOTd elsewhere.
Why do you use a dealer?
Did you get just 1 new tyre - it is recommended that you look to ensure that the tread depth is the same on both sides.
CATS:-
www.topgear.co.uk/acatalog/TVR.html
There is also a place ( I have lost the url) for a place that does homemade ones for TVR. Just do a search on here ? I think they are patent ones.

Where abouts are you? I'm sure there is somebody on here nearby to where you are who has some cats in the garage you can borrow.
If you are in N. Yorks you can come and borrow mine, they passed the last MOT but I've put on cat bypass pipes since then so I can save them for the next one.

Remember, AFAIK only one bank has to pass the emissions.

I took it to a dealer because they fitted an uprated clutch 6 months ago.since then the car pinks every time you put your foot on the gas,so i thought they`d have some idea whats causing it.
I didnt think the car needed much to pass the mot.so i thought i`d get it done while its was in.
The offside front tyre had become nearly bold on inner edge(just had full alignment done 4 weeks ago). The other sides nearly new.
I always planned to decat it at some point.do you not need both cats when its mot time again?

Will it pass with cats removed, thought they were an important part of the emissions test, lambda readings, HC's etc etc???

Or is it a special place

I`ve just had a thought. If the cars pinking like mad that means the engines not firing right.surely the emissions are affected.
anybody any ideas?
It seemed strange that they m.o.t the car before they got it running correctly.
