It's been out some time now on the cerb and I'm think its possibly my next purchase. Yes I can call ACT and ask them but out on the road what are they like? Did you just slap it on or did you have things tuned up?

You can just fit them but ideally a remap is required. I think the ACT one's require new back plates which are included, if you can contact SpitfireV8 ( Jools) then he sells the direct replacement Whirlwind short induction with no backplates required and will supply a replacement chip that compensates for the air / fuel differences. Either way a good upgrade.

Red rose cars don't react as well to short induction apparently. Speak with joolz...

Provided it's a healthy RR then the gains might not be as great, but they will undoubtedly help smooth out the delivery of the power / torque, enhancing drivability which has got to he a good thing.

The car is realy smooth now but the cross over pipes are showing there age but I don't want to waste my money on something that's not required on a RR.

I will need new pipes to tidy things up and to keep it running on song. The air boxes need some work on them so perhaps induction maybe the way to go.

ACT also do a set of original length replacement air hoses as detailed here

http://www.actproducts.co.uk/shop/tvr-induction-tu...

You could keep you existing airbox backplates and a remap would not be needed.

Just another option that is available

Simon

The red rose cars see little benefit and some dis-benefit afaik - so in the round I decided it wasn't for me albeit joolz was going to trial it (in fact he may have) on my engine.

I think your engine has been the test bed for everything wink . I will take it as red there is no need to go induction now.

The pipes are cheaper if I keep as they are but my air boxes need some work at the point they join the pipes due to some crushing.

my air boxes need work due to a YTS person putting them on the floor anmd rubbing them on concrete.

As soon as the water pipes are all back and fitted I'm going to refurb the air boxes now. I'm sure I can sort the crushed ends out somehow for a few pence. Paints ok but a few drinks in Harrogate might push somebody's paint spraying hand my way. smile

There are threads on here re refurbing the air box back plates using exhaust tin. I was lucky to get new back plates made up by Plasticman Dave Hillis.
Let me know how you get on with painting the boxes as I need to follow someone elses lead.

Well mine did. Joolz fitted the kit plus a remap to my LW RR a while back now.

The original torque curve looked like a flight of stairs but the delivery is now much smoother and BHP close to the original RR factory claimed (!) figure.

I guess that could be the benefit of the map rather than the short induction? Anyway I am only going by what I was told.

Hmmmm, this is interesting...
I think my RR is running awfully (& sounding awful) and has 'someones' short induction pipes on there. No idea what other bits, but presumably has run well, although number of owners maybe means it hasn't. Sports pipes and de-cat aren't helping either.

Think we shall request that Jason @ Str8six only give it back once resolved....even if we go down 4.2 induction route.

Comparing to my last Tuscan S, it's running quite woefully.

Get it to joolz. Right chip/map and a review of cam timing, throttle bodies and pots etc will have it running well I'm sure.

redface)
Been many moons since Joolz and I were last in touch with one another.

He has a different mail address these days doesn't he (don't you Joolz ?......think the last time was when we were racing the Cerbera then TuscanR (the real Rollcentre ones !!))

All help gratefully received.

Not sure about the cats as i am still running with them on but I also have the sport exhaust and it runs really smooth. Fantastic sound even with the cats on.

If its worth it ill go induction but if its not then ill clean things up and run normal pipes.

Can anyone remember what size the exhaust tubing was? My airbox back plates were looking a bit tires last time I looked, be good to get them sorted seeing as I have a new engine.
