Hi there,

I found the standard bulbs pretty crap in the Cerb so I have stuck some Lucas Rally Blues in .

Needless to say the visibility is vastly improved .

I was worried they'd look a bit chavy but they don't. Bit blue when you're in the car but they look completely normal from the outside (oncoming traffic) which is a good thing.

They're 100watt so are technically illegal but I consider them worth the risk for the benefits and they're nothing near as blinding as some standard lights I've seen!

Worth a try for anyone thinking they have crap lights .

Doh! Just deleted the other post .

Standard bulbs in sports cars are usually crap which is strange considering they're usually going a lot faster than normal moters .

100 watt bulbs and tvr wiring, you're a braver man than I.

Why ?

BTW, still crap compared to normal lights imo.

Must be the height of the car/ beems not adjusted correctly or something?

Crap lights in Sportscars is just stupid .

Im with Trooper on that one!!suprising what extra heat and power they draw, least we dont have the Vauxhall stalks high beam on 100 watts tends to blacken the lighting pins, but hey least you can see where your going......at the moment!!just remember theres no smoke without fire!!

Extra light means more power and therefore more heat, the wiring needs to be able to take the increased draw.

I don't know for certain that it can't, but on my experience with the wiring on my Cerb, I wouldn't put them in.

use the www.mod-wise.com brighter light upgrade with the Philips Vision bulbs they are so much better or use the 100w bulbs you have as the kit wires it direct from the battery no no melting of wires

For what its worth mine had 100w bulbs in it and the dip beam wiring burnt out at the box in the boot (common problem, search past threads).

I'm about to upgrade my lights with direct feeds from the battery via relays (essentially the mod-wise thing) and PIAA bulbs.

My reflectors were also shot, so I replaced them a few weeks ago. Not sure, but the 100w bulbs would've hastend their demise....

This is a fire waiting to happen - you must have the higher wattage bulbs triggered by a relay. Either buy the mod wise kit or get a spotlamp wiring kit from Halfords.

Yikes!

Glad I kept the old ones now, will remove the 100watt bulbs until I have time to do it properly.

Thanks for the info guys.

from what I understand (which is very little ) the mod wise kit and a rewire is necessary for the increased power. Uprated xenon 100 watt bulbs, I was told, draw the same current as standard ones, but being better are 60% brighter.

On an S, anyway.

So your options are either uprated bulbs, or the modwise kit which is the best route to go, but does need rewiring.

The aforestated may not be true, standard terms and conditions apply, seek parental guidance before fitting, no purchase necessary

I've just ordered a pair of new reflectors for mine, after complaining the lights were erm.... not light. Already have 100w bulbs, but the reflectors were8 years old, pitted and grimy.

Worrying thing was the supplying dealer said it's just as well I did it now, as they have bought the last few pairs from TVR, and there were no more.....

Selling off the last few Cerb bits? They only stopped making them a few weeks ago!?!?!
