Hello all,

Is there a way to make the cold air any colder in the Cerb? I find myself sweating like a rapist at the moment.

Cheers

There is.

In the Drivers footwell, on the right hand side behind the carpet there is a potentiometer which controls the A/C air temperature.

Set it too cold, and the A/C will freeze up, leading to initially very cold air, but eventually it will warm up. Apparently it is best to set it to about 3 celsius, which can be done with a themometer (no calibration on the pot!).

Hope this works out for you

Hi

This was covered under the 'Unidentified Knob' thread on this page.

Your problem is probably a lack of gas in the unit due to usage/small leak

on my 98 cerb I get warm air through the warm air vents that can be felt all the time ie even with ac on. Anyone else got this.

I had the same last year, but realised that I was foolish enough not to have turned the hot air off (ie both hot and ac were on at the same time). Worth checking.

Thanks for those tips. It was re-gassed a couple of weeks ago so I will try and get at that potentiometer and sort it.

I get warm air blowing thru slightly when the heat is turned off - I guess that is just unwanted engine heat.

Ok - pulled the carpet up in the footwell - any idea what this pot looks like?

I would guess that it is a little surface mounted circuit component that is round, with a small groove to accept a small screwdriver.

No idea which way to turn it, but I guess that should be fairly easy to determine.

Let me know how it goes. I might need more information like yourself if I ever need to do this

Well mine looks like this (2001 4.5LW):

See also this thread for discussion on the same topic: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=13825&f=6&h=0

Good luck! Let us know which way it needs to be turned.

The later ones have the adjuster like Jeremyc's. His is a 2001 LW. Mine is a 96 4.2, and I was advised that the adjuster was behind the carpet in the drivers footwell, on the right hand side.

I guess they use the same potentiometer components as they do for other controls in the car, which means that it should look like the descrption I gave you.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

I remembered !

Ok, the switch (on ours) is located here

Look up behind the dash (behind the fog light switch) & you'll see

Or if you stick your head in the footwell you'll see this

If you want larger pics, let me know....

No problem Noodles... (have you noticed our cars are almost identical ! )

I think it's clockwise for warmer, anti for cooler...
But I could be completely wrong as the switch is upside down !

Errr I'm sorry to butt in like this - I'm OJ's wife, he left himself logged into PH whilst he followed your instructions, Olly.

I have a question. Bit off-topic perhaps but I'm sure someone here can help. How do you extricate on ageing overweight Cerbera owner from the drivers side footwell, please?
