Window up down up down problem...

So, you open the passenger door and the window goes all the way to the bottom.

You close the door and it does not move.

You try and close the window with the window closing/opening button and nothing happens.

You open the passenger door and close it again. The window does not move.

BUT this time you can close the window (albeit very slowly!) with the window closing/opening button.

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved. (I'me a tchno-dinosaur before anyone asks!)

There is a little reed switch that tells the window to stop when the door is opened. It could be this, or knackered wiring in the door psnel, now the weather is crap.

It seems that if one component in the door system is shagged the whole bloody thing gives up.

Its a micro switch inside the door panel. You need to take off the door liner, 8 or so bolts and its in the top fwd corner.

didds, could be a poor window switch connection within the door itself. Known to get dirty or corrode. Had something similar myself last winter. Started to undo the bolts to take the door card off, got to the last one, door card shifted slightly without the support, window worked again, so rather than tempt fate (knowing my DIY skills) I simply bolted it all back together and its worked ever since

check the connectors inside the door for any corrosion as water gets in there easily - clean and seal..

and when you seal it make sure you lift the connector block off the bottom of the door so it doesn't sit in a pool of water. i hung mine on a very thin piece of picture cord secured to the mechanism and have had no more problems since.

Well, in jolly good TVR fashion the problem has :cough: gone!

So that saved me making a balls up of the door!

But I'll book mark the thread in case the problem re-surfaces!

I recently had almost the same fault, disconnected the door control box and that fixed the problem for a while, after a few minutes the problem appears again, could not open the doors. I controlled all connectors and in the end it was the proximity switch on the bottom of the passengers door.
TVR problems are not always logical to solve.
