I need some help please. The drivers door window on my 97 Cerbera has stopped opening when I open the door. Also it doesnt close when I shut the door either. The passenger door is fine. I believe that this is probably due to the failure of a micro switch behind the door panel. Is this right? Is it easy to get at and replace? Can you get a new switch and if so where from? Any idea of cost? Is it easy to replace the switch and also get the door panel back on? Are there any issues with other wires etc when removing the door panel?
I'm the first ot admit that i'm no mechanic but no fool either so want to give it a go. All assistance greatly appreciated.

Well its pretty easy to get the panel off and see whats going on. All allen-head screws, two on top near the hinge, three I think down the trailing edge and three along the bottom. Then the whole door panel comes off. There is a plug that you'll need to undo to remove the panel completely.

Then you can see how it all works. If you feel around in the bottom of the door there should be another cable with a plug on, check that isn't corroded. Look at the microswitch and check it hasn't broken. With the window down you can press it and see if its actually switching. If it is, the switch might just need adjusting so the glass pushes it enough.

You might also have a problem with the proximity switch which is on the bottom of the door, and mates with a little round thing that is in the bottom of the door opening. Find the cable to that and check connections. If you have a meter check it 'makes' when the door shuts.

Elsewhere on here there are details of replacement part numbers and sources for all these parts.

good luck!

I also found with mine (1997) that cable feeding Motor/Switch just needed holding @ a different angle. I would suggest that the cable was breaking down.

If the window will go right to the top using the window buttons then its most likely a problem that can be rectified by unplugging the rear box, waiting 10 mins and then plugging it back in.

Look in the boot bove petrol tank. There wil be a black box velcroed to the top of fuel tank - one of the boxes is window control.

I think you just need to unplug the power supply (should have mainly red and black wires)
