Hi everyone, New to PH. What a great site and what a great bunch. I've been reading for ages but never posted.
I own a 2000 4.5 LW. Had it since Sept 02. Previously owned an S4 and Chim 500.
I'm planning a road trip to the Frankfurt motor show next week and hope to stop off at the Nuremberg ring for a blast or two. Has anyone taken their car to the track before. If so, are there any noise restrictions(sports exhaust). What time does the track open and close on aweek day. Also can anyone suggest any hotels near to the track.

Thanks Olly,
Just checked out the website. Scared me shitless though. May reconsider going to the track.

NO ! If your going there you HAVE to go round ! Just don't go too mad & respect the circuit. As long as you don't get silly, there is no reason you can't have a nice drive & be perfectly safe & not have an accident. It's only when you starty pushing too much & geting cocky that you'll crash....

"Buster" has taken his Cerb round the 'Ring at least once.....

Hi there and welcome to the madhouse!

I've only been to the 'Ring once (in October 2001, and we did it as a day trip!), but if you're anywhere near it, you must go for a lap. the most amazing piece of tarmac you will ever drive.

I was in an M5 Touring at the time - scared the bejesus out of a few 911s as a 2 tonne estate car came sliding past!! now have a Cerbie and can't wait to get back there.

Just respect it...a lot! It can be bone dry at the start, then wet at the bottom of the hill. The motorcyclists are mental (keep an eye in your mirrors). And don't be tempted to use the long straight at the end of the lap for a v-max run - use it to cool down the brakes and engine before you pull into the carpark.

www.nuerburgring.de has all the times it is open , IIRC.

Have fun, but take care. Remember reading that a couple of UK guys from another forum (in a Ferrari, I think) lost their lives there earlier this year.

cheers
sean

Did the 'Ring'. What can I say. It was out of this world.
Very anxious to start with when queing up. Lots of 911 turbo's and GT's getting excited at the prospect of 'Battle of Britain' - The Return !! I gave up on that before even entering the track. First lap was very difficult and was absolutely knackered at the end of the first lap. Each lap there after was faster and more confident. Anymore and I would of killed myself. Can understand how so many people crash. You really have to have your witts about you. I was so amazed at how the cerb handled. I did some really stupid things and it never got into trouble. If anyone is thinking of going, it is the best adrenaline rush you will ever have. Just be careful and don't do anymore than 3 laps !!
