http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

yep, 4.2 with skimmed and ported heads, uprated injectors, all new bearing shells, honed barrels and total seal piston rings, and once in the car will make up a tuned exhaust system for it.

looking forward to finally getting her going.hehe

Your coil packs are on the opposite end of the engine from standard - although this will make it a LOT easier to swap them as/when they fail ! thumbup

(I've got an air-con pump there, otherwise would be quite tempted to move mine !)

As said, locating the coil packs at the opposite end the block makes for great access but where are you planning on locating the alternator and what will it be driven off?

Or am I completely missing something??

Your thinking of the a/c compressor. The alternator is located in the middle of the V on an AJP.

doh!

I really should know that as I spent the w/e before last stripping mine out (again) and giving it all a spruce up and clean.

thats the reason for having tham there, I worked on a friends car last year and access to the coils was a complete nightmare.hehe

that looks lovely and fresh, exactly what i am going to do to mine when i finally remove it, fingers crossed should be this weekend. obviously a different colour combo so don't panic.

I hope you have nicely sprayed air box and inlet manifold boxes to match the gloss black on the engine.

Looks great clive

I notice you have routed the HT leads under the throttle bodies / air box...looks neater than on mine where they are simply cable tied to the water cooling pipe above the exhaust manifold on each side...which brings me to my point...will where you have them not make replacement of the water pipe and indeed the HT leads difficult if not impossible in the future...?

Not trying to be clever or anything just wondering if you have a plan!

I'm going to replace the HT leads on mine soon and am not looking forward to it mainly because it looks so fiddly and the route of the leads clipped to the water pipes seems...well...heath robinson-ish as they say...

Good look getting it in the chassis mate

hi pete, the ht leads fit nicely under the air inlets from the front and back of the flange, and once the water pipes are on, there is just enough room for the plug caps to fit down between the water pipes and the heads, so no probs, but I did check just in case.yes

That is one tidy looking motor! The AJP really does deserve that much attention. Top drawer Clive.

What are going to do with the crankcase breather...? I notice its taped up for now...

I am currently in the process of venting mine to atomosphere via a filter and oil catch tank rather than back into the air box (which was leaking) as standard. This was the topic of a thread a few weeks back...

Just wondering...

Mine was leaking (the container on the bottom of the air box is broken / split) and spraying oil mist everywhere...not expecting increased performance or anything its just this seem easier / cheaper than trying to find a standard replacement part.

...keep the photo's coming!
