As an homage to the IMDB forum, I decided it must be time to start the inevitable 'What I Learned' thread. Sadly I am not going to be able to match the standard of the usual ironic musings, so I'll just play it straight for now and hope that others will run with the baton.

When TVR fitted the expansion tank from an Audi that included a low coolant sensor, there was no point connecting it to the loom, because it doesn't really matter if you overheat the engine.

If the engine does overheat, then the coolant from the expansion tank is dumped directly on to the upper chassis rail causing extensive corrosion. Fortunately some of the coolant misses the coolant rail and leaks through the heater hose grommets, straight into the passenger footwell where the engine ECU resides. Apparently VW Passat ECUs suffer a similar fate, so who can blame TVR - it must be best practice.

The one time I removed all the tools from my car, because I was taking it to get the outriggers replaced, one throttle arm came loose and jammed with an open throttle on the M25. Fortunately Zorba_The_Greek was following me and we managed to find an AA mechanic who lent me an Allen key.
