I couldn't understand why my headlights were crap, until I noticed they weren't working. The side lights are ok, as well as the full beam.

From reading some past threads, it looks as though it could be the dim/dip control unit in the boot. There are a couple of wires/terminal that look burnt, so i'm assuming this is the problem.

Any idea how much they are?

Cheers guys.

Just stripped it down, and the unit looks ok...apart from the 2 terminals lookin a bit burnt. A new connectors is needed, at least for the 2 at fault. Bypast the terminal, and bingo, they work.

Job for tomorrow.

Pity i'm colour blind. BANG

For future record - if I recall they are about £70 + VAT

Mine went on the first Cerbera after giving a strobe effect for a while!

Problem now sorted, and all is well. The switchbox was held together by black tape because when I took the tape off, it fell to bits. Two contacts repaired, and the black box resealed...with black tape.

Repaired to TVR standards then?

Previous owner must have thought the same as me. £70 for the box. When all it was, was 2 of the terminals that had burnt out. If it happens again, then I shall think about replacing it, or even modifying it.

I drilled a hole in the top of the box, fed two wires in and soldered them direct to the terminal pins. Couple of bullet connectors and I've had no bother since.

I did have to go to HHC to start with as the box had fallen down the back of the fuel tank and I was convinced my car didn't have a black box Doh!

Sorry to resurect my old thread, but I was at my local TVR meet last night, and another cerbera owner had the same problems as me. I said I knew what the fault was, but we couldn't find the dimdip box above the tank. His car is an early 4.2 (1997ish). Was this changed? Any help would be apprieciated.

Mine is a '97 4.2 and is in the same place. I've actually disconnected it now, as it was upsetting the relays I now use to switch power to the headlights at the front of the car.

It'll have fallen down the back of the tank like mine did (97 4.2 aswell). You have to reach really far down - it will be there!

If you're looking into the boot, it'll be down the right hand side.

Cheers guys. I'll pass the message on. I was wondering whether it had fallen down the back, but thought i'd check for changes/mods first.
