Anyone seen the 1998 4.5 on E-Bay with only 4000 miles on it?!?.Just thinkin to myself if it would be a good buy...........or not? When i bought mine it had only done 16k miles in 7 years & only 500 miles in the 2 years prior to me buying it.When i started to use it on a regular basis i had all the issues associated with a car that had not been used i.e. slave-cylinder seals went, radiator started to leak,steering-rack leaked, battery knackered etc.
I think if someone wanted a standard-low mileage Cerb it would be a great buy for the right price, but what would happen if you used it????Its gonna lose its value obviously........what do other people think?

I'd tend to agree you can almost guarantee that if you start using this car you're' going to spend the next 4 months or so de-bugging it, however this all depends on how much it goes for as interior looks new and exterior also good, so it could turn out otbe a sound buy providing you keep your eyes open

Can anyone give me a guide as to what this car will fetch,or an opinion as to what it might be worth. I'm bidding at the moment, looking for a weekend toy since selling my 911 Turbo LE this year.

I suspect it'll go for between £11k and £12.5k. The low miles will lure many.

Have you asked the seller what the reserve is?

It looks a very nice example... you'd be able to tell if everything is genuine by the body work stone chip and stuff... Only problem i can see with it is it looks to good to be true!!!

Id be wanting 12+k for it if it was mine

The interior pictures are the ones used when it was advertised in Autotrader in October 2006. Cant remember what the mileage was but didn't think it was lower than 4k - could be wrong though.

Come on! At least £20k IF it is genuine!

That was a £50k car when new and IF genuine and it's in museum condition, as such should perhaps be bought by a museum!

At least them when my grand-kids turn up, I can take them and show them one of the best cars ever built!
Mind you if me daughter hurries up I might still be driving mine!

Get it inspected and if you can get it for £10-12k, then that's a better investment than Gov Bonds!

Why is anyone bidding with 5 days to go............?! Strange!
Its at 10K already. Suspect its 'worth' £14K but will go for 18K.

I had a look at it yesterday. The mileage is genuine but it had not been driven for 3 years and when it was in use the mileage has been very low.
It is a standard 98 car with half leather. Still on the original tyres, exhaust etc. The chassis is starting to flake in the usual places as the garage was not dehumidified and the paintwork needs some storage scuffs and marks removing. Windscreen delaminating at bottom.
It is MOT'd but is SORN. MOT notes shocks "damp". No dealer service history since 2002.
It drove quite well with quiet suspension but the engine needs a tune up as it "pinks" quite badly.

IMO it needs new tyres (on safety grounds - stood for years without moving), new shocks, windscreen, chassis protecting, service and tune-up, battery, and paintwork refurbishment (some touching up but mostly cut and polish). I estimate about £3500/4000 if you pay someone to do most of it or £2000 if DIY with cheaper shocks.

There was a problem with the drivers door not shutting properly without being held so that it could latch but is suspect other electrical glitches may manifest themselves over time.

There were other interested parties and I think it is now sold (not to me).

You have given me more information on the car than the seller, I have e-mailed him several times with a number of questions but no reply.I guess you are right the car must be sold.
