I have noticed when driving behind other cerbs that the visibility of the rear brake lights to other drivers is not that good and as such was thinking about mounting a high level brake light.

This looks ideal...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/led-3rd-brake-light-strip-12...

I was thinking about sticking it to the top of the rear screen. The rear screen is about a meter across so this brake light would have to be cut. I have emailed asking them if it can be cut.

Comments/thoughts/criticisms??

HA HA! Quite possibly hehe

I will wait to hear from the seller if it can be cut down to length. If it can, for the sake of a tenner I will probably give it a bash!

I've fitted one, not quite as extreme as the one in the link, fixed it to the two screws that hold the ultrasonic sensor.

I'll take a photo tomorrow, if anyone's interested.

I was in a bit of a rush today, photos are rubbish but I think you'll get the idea.

From this camera angle the pod looks huge, where in fact the housing is only just larger than the LED's.... actual size it 12mm high x 30mm deep x 300mm long

I used the two screws that hold the ultrasonic transducers to the head lining and a couple of strips of thin metal, careful bending was needed to push the pod as high and as close to the alarm LED as possible.

I got all arty farty and tried to take a photo looking in the rear view mirror laugh, just to show how little it obscures the view laugh so instead you got one looking through the rear window.........

I found the LED's come on significantly quicker and are way brighter than the normal bulbs.... all for a tenner of fleabay.

Search ebay for 'Red LED Strip' and you get lots of different length alternatives.

I noticed the other day that the Bentley conti has one of those strips fitted but it looks like they fitted it behind the rear glass with a dark filter so its invisible when off, looked cool though wink

Thanks for the pics Rufus.

The bentley continental is exactly what I had in mind when thought about it.

Budaholic the ones you linked to look really good value and look exactly the same as the ones I have linked to so I will buy one and try it out! - Thanks for the heads up!
