When I bought my Countach last year, I was told it's the actual car used in the UK/Europe version of the Athena Countach Anniversay poster. I haven't found any proof of this though, until today: I finally managed to track down an Athena picture, in postcard form, and bought it on ebay. It arrived this morning, and the back of the card credits the car as courtesy of the Patrick Collection. My car was first bought by Mr. T. Patrick, and then assigned to the Patrick Collection. So there it is, it's definately the actual car. So now I really want a copy (or several even) of the poster. I've not had any luck finding one so far - Athena have been out of business for years, and the Anniversary is not everyone's favourite Countach. So, if any of you fellow enthusiasts have a copy of the poster hidden away anywhere, and fancy selling it, please contact me. The postcard shows a rear shot of the car. Pics of my car are in my profile - it's candy red with no rear wing. (And yes, Redwing, it still looks better without - LOL).

I had a big Athena 25th Anniversary Countach poster which adorned my bedroom wall for many years back in the day. It's the 'Patrick Collection' car (says so on poster) taken from a raised front 3/4 angle. It's a fantastic photo I have to say although not in perfect condition by any means. The only problem is I gave all my old posters to my 5 year old nephew a couple of months ago and his mum has put at least one (of a Diablo) up on his bedroom wall. If the Countach one has not been used yet I might still be able to get it back for you.

Great, I would be interested in that for sure. I have no idea what angles were used or how many, so would love to see that shot. The supplier of the postcard also has more for £2 each so I think I'll get a few of them for display in my garage. Let me know if you have any joy retrieving the poster.
Many Thanks.

Just did a google images search. Is this it?

Looks awesome! Fantastic to know that yours is the ACTUAL car that has inspired so many dreams and actual Lamborghini owners!

Good luck on tracking some down!

As an aside:
This place has some nice posters too!

While googling I found this too - Yes I admit it's badly cheesey but it still made me grin wink

Thanks for all the replies. I've googled this loads of times and just can't find it. None of the pictures posted here are my car. They are very similar but not actually it. I have a copy of the Portman brochure which came with the car, and I did briefly wonder if that's my car, but the reality is that mine is far from the only candy red Anniversary in the world. The bottom poster is from a magazine and I don't think it's a UK car. The Athena poster is the only one that's definately my car and would be studio shots with no scenery in the background. I have also found the photographer and he/she still has a website so I plan to fire an email off to see if there are still any pictures I can get.

Robin - it is fantastic to know my car was the actual one used for an Athena poster. Quite how many schoolboy dreams were fired by an Anniversary I don't know, it's not the most popular model. Not that I care, I love my car to bits and it's a far better car than I could ever have hoped to get with the budget I had. It only had 2000 miles on it when I bought it last year. I've put about 1200 more on it since without a problem, and loved every single one of them.

Ruttboy, I look forward to hearing from you, I have my fingers crossed.

No, none of the pictures in the above galleries either, I found these on my searches too. That's what's so frustrating: I know the posters exist but just can't find any on the web. It seems that just about every other poster ever made is still out there though!
If I do manage to get one, I'll try to put an image on here.

Sorry I haven't got back to you yet, poster is in the loft, and I haven't had a chance to get up there yet.
Will do it over the weekend and get back to you.

Very confident that it is the right poster.

Cheers,

Ruttboy.

Trace - thanks for your kind words, glad you like the car.

James - if it had a wing they would never have used it for the poster - they tend to use the best looking ones thumbuplaugh

Ruttboy - no rush, at your convienience, I'm just glad I might get a result here.

the wings...

...were never actually fitted at Sant'Agata - you had to order one and the car would be moved to 'another' location and have the wing fitted there instead.

Which could be another bit of Lamborghini legendary nonsense stuff or possibly all that is about as likely as buying a Countach for delivery to South Africa where the only way to do it without attracting masses and masses of import duty was to have Lamborghini build your car, take it outside the factory and dismantle it, pack it in various boxes and crates, send it by air and sea to various points in South Africa from where these now 'officially unrelated bits' would be moved to another location where they would then be made into a South African built car...

...except that is exactly what happened to get a Countach to the RSA and to some extent still does!

I always wondered why Countach owners don't have two boot lids and struts etc, one with a wing and one without??

Perhaps a whole doctoral study and thesis could then be written about the psychoanalytical processes of choosing one or the other, which is chosen the most, which gets polished longest, which makes the most difference, which gets used as a picnic table instead of the door sills, how sizeable are the genitalia of those who choose wings instead of no wings etc, etc, etc...

There just aren't enough pictures of cars on this thread, especially with wings attached!

Wingy-ding, schmings...

What about all those long ago promised pictures of your Interceptor JG?

...a remote, long-edged hilltop location near the Welsh border on a low-sun winter's day and the sounds of the 60's and 70's from the 8-track in the Jensen are interrupted by distant but still thunderous sounds of the approaching Countach...

...the first sign of the Lamborghini is a red flash from the shiny wing as it crests the edge above the brow of the hill...

...the appearance of a tartan coloured flask from the boot of the Interceptor...

...the gentle steam of the coffee in the chill air cannot hide the opening door of the Lambo...

...a mumbled, "thanks," as the coffee is passed to the driver of the Countach...

...music changes to something Elgar-ish, Vaughan-Williams-ish...

...the camera changes to a view through the Jensen's doors of the Countach and the landscape beyond...

...James is heard to be apologising for not bringing his stills camera...

I mean, really, I should be a screenwriter - imagine the images, the soaring music, the chattering of teeth heard through thick scarves and balaclavas due to the sub-zero temperatures...

We DEMAND to see pix of any such Anniversary/Interceptor illicit liaisons in remote moorland locations NOW!!!!
