MP4-12C Market - New Price Level?
Discussion
So what's the collective noun for a group of MP4-12c's....
Surprising that Rybrook has 5 in stock...also that 2 of them are offered at ~140k GBP....
What am I missing?

Why is there a 10k price difference between the cars with near identical miles, ages and paint colour?
The extent of carbon options fitted I suspect. The cheapest one looks quite base spec, and the carbon bits add up very quickly. But it must mean that dealer bids are in the 120s for early cars. That's quite...tempting...

I bought one fairly recently, but would not touch any of those cars, they have what looks like v poor spec. Wrong wheels, no carbon, no sports exhaust, no ceramics etc. Can make a huge difference when speccing the car, changing a £170k car to £210k car.
Whilst such options might change the aesthetic and aural attributes of the car...only the ceramics might change (and that's a seperate debate) the driving characteristics...So if you're wanting the essence of the MP4-12C driving experience without the frills....are these not worthy?

imo the carbon doesn't save enough weight and therefore is only valuable aesthetically and for re-sale though the light wheels are worth itSo if you're wanting the essence of the MP4-12C driving experience without the frills....are these not worthy?

But thats just personal preference. If you wanted a 12C and werent as fussed about the carbon, then you get one for less cash upfront. If you want the options then you need to pay extra. Its not like they're a faulty car or anything. There'll always be a market for cheap cars.kryten22uk said:

When looking at the Mclaren, the options such as the carbon and the lightweight wheels really 'lift' the car. And, from movements I have seen in the market for these cars, others agree with me. It seems hard to shift cars that are poorly specced.JPF40 said:
I bought mine solely on spec. I wanted everything and therefore waited for a car with every single carbon option. When it comes to resale spec. is important.
Interesting. Looks like cosmetic options are more desirable on the MP4 as opposed to, say, driver / performance focused options on a GT3 (buckets, clubsport, etc).Seems the MP4 attracts a different type of customer.

The carbon bits do not save any weight and are purely cosmetic. However generally at that price point of sportscar, various carbon bits do seem to be perceived to be more important (higher discount of used car to list car price perhaps..)isaldiri said:

I thought the carbon brakes are actually HEAVIER than the standard steel ones.
