Who would you side with?...
Discussion
This really is an interesting topic. I've been asked to rev the Tuscan on loads of occasions and have almost always done it for them. However, I wouldn't do it there. I live in central London and there are always people driving like knobs, revving up cars and generally behaving badly. Now you can say it's central London so it is to be expected but if I lived there I'd be pretty pissed off.
I actually don't see any difference between it being done by a Lambo, Ferrari or a Nova. Where do you draw the line? Is it ok in a GTR? An M3? Doing burnouts and redlining in front of a crowd full of enthusiasts is one thing but doing it in the confined space of a residential highly populated area is a totally different matter.
Since supercars became easier to drive with like clutches and auto boxes and production numbers increased rapidly the percentage of car enthusiast owners vs people who just wanted the latest toy has dropped. It's the behaviour of a few that will spoil it for the rest of us. Remember the launch control burnout of the Murci SV last year. That was discussed on here at length and it's that sort of thing and the one in this video here that will add weight to the locals who want the Police to clamp down on the behaviour of all the supercar owners. There can be such a thing as responsible supercar ownership.
In this video the pedestrian's behaviour and foul mouthed rant was out of order but had that been a Policeman I am sure that he could have slapped the Lambo owner with a ticket for something. Anyone know the legal position here?

Not sure there is anything in the RTA's which would specifically cover this. Possibly sec 3 Carless or inconsiderate driving. The section is wide enough to cover anything really, eg skidding, wheelies etc per a few cases.
In Scotland, we have the ubiquitous 'Breach of the Peace' charge that covers nearly anything that anyone (read Jon) has ever done in public! I know the public order offences in England are a bit softer and may cover this, but not qualified in inferior legal system!

No, because chav refers to a working class person.
It refers to a type of behaviour and attitude embodied in an individual, class has little to do with it, there are just more poor people than wealthy, the percentage is probably higher in the rich than the poor and we are talking about money here and money has nothing to do with class as the video shows.Mx5guy said:
A chav and a rich person may also drive around with a loud car, revving etc, but it doesn't mean everyone doing this is a chav. You may regard them as a idiot etc, but it doesn't automatically make them a chav because they can have a similar behaviour.
I think you'll find that it does.Mx5guy said:
I also agree money does not make a person better or worse - it is the individual themself. However you seem to be assuming others posting here are showing off and are idiots, because they are rich.
I have made no such assumption, my ire is reserved for those who support the sort of anti-social behaviour shown in the videos on here.Mx5guy said:
Whereas the impression I have from you is that you're assuming anyone who has a nice car (or many) is generally an idiot who just shows off.
Your impression is entirely wrong.Mx5guy said:
And using insults about grammar, spelling etc to "prove" someone is an idiot and so conforms to your steriotyping.
Yes, perhaps rather than my subtle mocking of the intellectually challenged I should have just waded straight in with the 'numb-nuts' and 'knob-head' stuff first. Picking on people having loads of money and zero intellectual rigour was cruel.Mx5guy said:
And as for revving the engine it completely depends on your viewpoint.
Indeed it does... in the right place it's fab, in the High Street it's chav.Mx5guy said:
So either way you will not win.
I think you'll find I did a few pages back, you haven't quite cottoned on yet.Mx5guy said:
If someone is asked to rev and doesn't then they get insulted because they didn't do it. If they do then some people will think you're a moron. If you make someone's day by doing it is that a good enough reason to do it? Depends on the individual.
Yes, the weak and simple minded will do almost anything that fluffs their vanity, the same weak and simple minded will do almost anything to foster praise from the hoi-polloi.Edited by Gene Vincent on Monday 11th June 15:05
The owner of the car should have slowly cruised along and argued with the guy, that would have made interesting filming, running over his feet also at the same time! Give him something to really shout about then! LOL
I was up Regent Street last week, a very good looking man in a bright orange lambo was in a queue at some lights to be honest I was eyeing up him more than his car! LOL . He revved it up as he knew he was being looked at, well smiled at actually ;o) .... did we all shout at him? Nah, you just think good luck to him and enjoy seeing one and personally from my point of view enjoy people's excitement and enjoyment of ownership.

Eyeing up him more than his car........ now go and stand in the corner and reflect on the shame of that statement. Still waiting for the list of supercars.
I can picture you chatting up the girls (probably boys)
Er yeh well you know I have a supercar. When you finally show it to them there response is probably.
You absolute cock.
I bet you went to uni and where taught to think you know it all. You know like.

Gene Vincent your wrong, a chav is below working class, usually dressed in cheap tracksuit bottoms, sweat shirt with 'Giorgio' or similar written across the front, dirty trainers, they usually look like they need a good wash and they claim every benefit going. Have not many morals, and are generally thick. They get aggressive after a can of special brew. Chavs can be viewed on late night police fly on the wall TV shows, where they are being arrested for something or other and usually spitting at the police. I suspect that your a Chav Gene vincent, and you are trolling this forum because you are jealous that you don't have and never will have a real super car, because your too poor.

So, man revs engine for supercar fan wanting to get a video and indadvertedly scares the daylights out of hypersensitive beardo who hurls profanities and threats and REALLY sounds like Avid Merrion. (The old school Avid Merrion that used to be on ITV past midnight by the way).
Nothing to do with class as the vast majority of people would respond with a "fk off" if spoken to in such a manner.
As for "chav", I wish this god-awful made-up term would disappear.
