Schnozz, so you reckon £40k may be a bit over the top too then huh?

yes I do mate. But I dont profess to be an expert, just a regular browser of autotrader at 348's. I think £35k is plenty for a good spyder but as you say, 10% haggling off the price makes it around that mark....

I just NEED that black one and the price is irrelevant It seems a bit pricey against the others but its just sex on a stick! rationality and accountability go out the window

I'll keep an eye out mate. It was your e-mail ages ago that inspired my trip through the Pyrenees. Hope you enjoyed my write-up on it as much as I did yours. Truly fantastic!

I don't doubt it Tony but like I said, I cannot get onto it as the firewall blocks anything it perceives as 'chat rooms'.

Are there any other Ferrari sites or, a back door into Ferrarichat?

How can I find out if there are even any royal Blue 348 Spiders in the country? I don't know the official colour but i know BMW do the M3s in it.

You can't miss it, it has a Spanish flag under the Smiley pistons on the rear No plate and under each side repeater!

Yes, I read about your trip - bad news with the suspension and the eye, but mainly the weather. The Pyrenees are awesome in the sun.

Next year, I am going to try and do Le Mans and then drive down to Nerja again, but this time down the coast via my mate's place south of Alicante.

To be honest it was quite good with the weather. It was so dramatic climbing the mountains with a temp drop and heading into the clouds in rain. Sounds really weird but you can get an idea from teh pics of how dramatic it was. Then the run down was in lovely sunshine through the Italian job style roads. I have some great video of some overtaking through the mountains on the way back down and countless 180+ degree bends whilst belting out "the self preservation society" on the stereo.

My parents live about an hour from alicants so I may well be interested in joining you for that run post LM next year if you would like company.

But would be v.interested in seeing the video footage... HEY Ted, was asking for stuff for the big screen at the weekend, don't know whether it may be too late now though?

I see you have one Nick, am I right in thinking you got it in March? If so, do you mind me asking how has your experience been so far and how far afield did you have to look, best places to look etc?

Schnozz, so you reckon £40k may be a bit over the top too then huh?

Mind you, if you can negotiate just 10% off then it's getting somewhere near I suppose.

Had a really open mind mind when looking for my 2nd car and 1st ferrari.Didnt have a budget - considered everything from second hand modenas,355's right down to 328's.Just wanted to not take a huge caning on moving on to another ferrari later (maintenance - residual value - trade in etc).Saw really badly neglected cars, the cheaper end in autotrader and just got a feel for the market.Mine was on pistonheads.I think the guys on here are actually bothered about cars and care/maintain them accordingly. The dj in luton that had a cheap 355 most definitely didnt care or maintain his.But it was the cheapest one in autotrader. If the cars are maintained as per the service schedule - there is no reason why they cant be reliable. If people service it every three years - then suprise suprise they go down hill sharpish.I took it straight to verdi's,cam belts/major service and away I went. The guy who inspected it for me and then verdis both said the car was in perfect order - I simply will continue to maintain it so the next owner gets a good car and another ferrari lives on.

Am I right in thinking that the 'B' stands for Berlinetta i.e. hard top and 'T' for targa?

Al,
If you wish to be introduced to massive depreciation, dealers taking the pi55 at a level you've not seen before, getting two fingers stuck up at you by the general public - rather than a thumb - buy one.

As for the model getting better with age, the 308 -348 evolution is a little like the 240Z -300Z, it got worse with time.

As for owning one thats done some miles...Our's, although not a V8, did more on the back of a trailer than under it's wown steam. They make TVR look like a good old reliable workhorse. All IMHO of course, but baised upon bitter experience.

Ah but John... how many of these similar blacker than thunder threads have we seen regarding the Speed6es?

That's why I am asking for as much feed back as possible, as my choice is exactly that... Tuscan Speed6 or Ferrari.

I would like to believe that if I can find a good, well treated one, and run it properly, service it properly, warm it up properly.... just as with the TVRs, they are capable of giving relatively trouble free motoring.

But as Shnozz says - gimme the gossip

Are you saying that if I insist on having a Ferrari, I should steer clear of even the late 348s and go for a very early (LHD) 355?
