Well, the 458 finally arrived. My factory delivery was cancelled, and then I still had to wait for quite a long time.

But I picked her up this afternoon, and I'm driving to Italy tomorrow. I am absolutely mind-blown by the specifications in real life. I mean, I had an idea, but it is even better than I had hoped for. Life doesn't get much better than this. Epic day.

Some quick shots in the sun - I'll post some more when we shoot some in the Italian country side.

Quick update on the specs, in case people are wondering:

Exterior: Nero Stellato. Roof: Rosso Maranello.
Interior: Pelle Nero, Bordeaux alcantara
Carbon driver zone, headers, interior sills
4 point harnasses.

Various other bits but you get the idea.

No worries - I realise this is not for everyone.

Two things though - it is a combination that is almost impossible to do justice on pics. There is a lot of subtlety in both the metallic black and the 3-layer red. In real life, very few people seem to dislike it.

Second, the real life combination is even better than I thought it would be, even though I did have a good idea of what it would look like.

But, as said, one can't argue about taste and if it's not for you, that's OK with me. I am very happy, though, that my car is unique AFAIK, and that she really makes me feel more special than a Rosso Corsa 458.

Love black 458s, seems to be their best colour. (Although you cant go far wrong with a 458...)

Shame the pics dont do the roof justice in the pics, havnt seen that combo before so look foward to seeing it bathed in Italian sushine!

Enjoy!

I'm currently in the huff with Ferrari, but that absolute peach has almost got a flicker of interest going again.

Hope it drives and is finished as well as it looks.

It's a beauty. A real beauty. And even more so for being individualistic and no doubt unique.

Great color combo looks really fresh with the red bits, love the alloys,my friend used to have a 458 but all red,I must say your color combo is miles better,I bet your looking forward to putting a few miles on it before you can give it some punishment,as its meant to be driven hard and not a garage queen

Certainly a colour scheme I have never seen before, I did originally turn my nose up at it, but....after looking at the photos a few times, it has grown on me.

Congratulations on the purchase, it truly is a fabulous car, I have been fortunate enough to ride in a 458, for 30 minutes, but it was just insane, the acceleration was other worldly, and the grip...WOW!

Enjoy!

Is it a 'nod' to a particular classic car? Or just a colour combo you like?

Nicely done. I like you've red calipers to match the roof....the run of colour from the A pillar to the wheels looks very smart. And the black harnasses to complement insets, neat. Enjoy!

The latter. I played with the configurator for 2 months to come up with this.

I was going after "sporty-chique", which I think is the essence of the 458. It is a sporty GT, not a full-out sportscar.
