There was a thread recently where I think someone was saying their "Eleanor" was a 550 (or maybe a 575?) in TdF with tan and manual.

Well, if so, these guys are selling one in that spec for £44.5k http://www.verdi-ferrari.com/product_list.php?id=5...

(the way the sales are listed is a bit crap but it is in there...)

I thought Verdi had been shut down for stealing their customers' money.

Has it opened up again under a relative's name or something?

Calling a car your "Eleanor" means that your actually scared of it as whenever you get near on something bad happens? At least that's how I remember it?

I think that's Christine.

Eleanor was a good car.

If Verdi has it, then Christine or Eleanor or whatever you want to call it, probably belongs to someone else biggrin

Does anyone know this car? I assume it's on Sale or Return, and while I wouldn't touch the dealer given what's gone on in the past, if the car is decent, I could well be interested...

Nope. Eleanor was the 'unicorn' the one car that couldn't be stolen successfully as something bad always happened. In the (crappy?) 2000 remake of the movie it was the only car Nick Cage was actually scared of.

If it's on SOR I guess you could put the word about on the Ferrari forums to see if someone could put you in touch with the owner so you could buy it directly from them, or at least have them re-locate it to a more trustworthy dealer if they don't want to sell it privately. Otherwise, is there a way to protect yourself if the car you really want appears at a dealership that you'd rather avoid?

No, it wasn't. Eleanor was the car that was going to get him caught. But he yearned for it so much that he went for it anyway. With disastrous results.

I can certainly relate to a 550 in TdF with tan being someone's dream car. Mine is a different blue but very similar and I love her to bits, even after 5 years together. Great, great cars.

is there a best forum for this kind of thing? (clubscuderia or fchat?) I only really use PH, so don't have much knowledge of other places.

on the question of protection - I must admit to having literally no idea - if the cash paid doesn't get transferred to the real owner, then there could be issues?

Er, he didn't steal it because he "yearned" for it or anything daft like that. He needed to steal it or his brother would get killed. Nothing to do with desire for the car itself.

But hadn't he tried and failed to steal it several times before?

Christine was the evil possessed car in the book/movie of the same name.
