F40 crash on the A23
Discussion
I was driving down to Sussex on Friday on the A23 when the traffic started backing up. Drove past the section at the bottom of the hill where it goes back into three lanes and found there had been an accident. Police and ambulance were in attendance and it looked pretty nasty, with at least two cars having gone down the embankment at the side of the road and into the trees. One appeared to be an F40.
Just wondered if anyone here knew anything about it. I am hoping for a happy outcome but things did not look too clever.

not much fun when caught in hail storm and heavy rain.
You got the hail too then. Here in Yorkshire we got hailstones the size of thumbnails along with thunder and lightning. I was a bit worried about my car which was sat outside, having seen footage of the damage done by hailstones in America. Of course, the American ones are bigger, but I don't know at what size they start to do damage so I was relieved when there was none.
Anyway, back to topic... Hope those involved on the A23 are okay but sad that an example of one of the world's finest cars, and a favourite of mine, may have been lost.

Not mine thankfully although it is a local road. Hope no one hurt.
And they do go out at this time of year, was out for blast yesterday although not much fun when caught in hail storm and heavy rain.

You must live close to me, I live just near Pease Pottage. I'd love to see the F40 if you're ever out and about in it.
Cheers Jonathan

I heard this on the radio this morning but there seems to be no details other than that the driver was killed and the female passenger managed to escape from the car.
Very sad to hear though, and I really hope it's no one I know.

We have just got one and were travelling back from a PH meet last night in Derbyshire and one of the Midlands PH'rs thought it may have been us. Sobering to say the least.

I drove past this in the other direction, but didn't see any sign of an F40. And I thought i was an observant driver. Anyhow, I hope nobody was hurt.
Jcosh, I obviously only caught a glimpse but it definitely looked like an F40 front clamshell that had become detached. Didn't see the rest of the car. Ceartainly looked like the real McCoy but maybe my mind was playing tricks. It's a bit of a mystery as i've done a web search, including the Brighton Evening Argus website, and can't find anything.
