Hi Chaps,

I have been umming and ahhing for ages and have finally decided why not you only live once, and have decided to buy a Lamborgini Contach.

I have found one I like the look of but have been advised to get it checked over by a specialist first to make sure its not a real dog. Does anyone know a good Lamborgini Specialist in London (preferable North London) who could pick the car up a go over it with a fine toothed comb before I buy.

I did a quick web search and Rosso Corsa came up but they look more set up for Ferrari, can any one comment.

Looking forward to your replys.

Very excited

Are you 100% sure that the Contach you are looking at isn't a replica?

Great move Charles. Get a good one and you'll be smitten. I've had mine for 3 1/2 years now and am loving it. I had the extended period of umming and ahhing too, and don't regret my decision one bit. It's great to realise a dream. As for specialists, I've heard that Grimaldi Engineering have a good reputation, and Mike Pullen of Carrera Sport also has been recommended. As yet, I haven't used any specialists myself so can't speak from personal experience, but these two get mentioned a lot.

If it's being advertised as a Lamborgini Contach then it's definitely a replica, as Lamborghini only made a Countach! wink

If he is the Charles church I hope the car he buys is better quality than the houses he builds!

Thanks very much for all the encouragement and all the useful leads! I will speak to mechanic tomorrow and get him on the case. Thanks again

Charles

P.S. Charles Church was my dad, we have had nothing to with company since he died, 20 years ago. It is a real shame that his good name has been dragged through the mud as building was his passion and he and my mother built excellent, innovative houses and were market leaders.

Do you have a link to the advert or is it a private sale, most vehicles are known
to the PH collective and will advise accordingly.

I bought a CC house about 5 years ago and it was disappointing to say the least
real shame about the good name being tarnished who owns the Company now ?

I believe Persimmon now own Charles Church along with several other companies including Beezer homes.
They certainly don't build houses like they used to 20 years ago.

Haven't Carrera Sport & Colin Clarke (south & north of London respectively) been acknowledged experts for these for many years ?

I used to work for Charles Church and we built some fantastic houses, its a shame the current owners of the brand just badge engineer volume houses. I left the company once this started to happen, but I remain proud of the houses we built and still go out of my way to drive past old sites that I bought and developed.

I can still picture the car park under CC HQ in Camberley filled with ferraris and porsches

Grimaldi Engineering for me. They looked after my testarossa for a number of years and have a wealth of experience with Lamborghini's.

Try Terry Keyes at Silverstone (www.ferrari-repairs.com) he specialises in Ferrari but has owned his own Countachs and knows them very well. I am sure he would inspect the potential purchase for you to.

Good luck you will not regret it, I bought my 5000S when I was 28 and owned it for 12 years. I now regret moving it on two years ago but sometimes needs must.

Charles,

Are you carrying on with the Caterham next year or ploughing your money into the Lambo????

As per other posts the well reknowned specialists are Carrera Sport (in Haywards Heath) and Grimaldi but sure that Verdi would also be able to inspect your purchase and might be closer to you.

Good luck....!

Tim

Hi Tim

Still not sure about Caterham but erring in the side of caution probably not. Was finding it hard to make all the races this season but still not sure it was a lot of fun.

Thanks every one for your posts, car inspection will be taking place soon, hopefully with some good results.

Thank you for you kind words about my dad. To blue33, I showed your post to my mum and my Aunti Georgy McCarthy and it set them reminiscing.
