599 from GT3 -recommendations

Hi all
Currently got 997 GT3 210. To be honest it's not what I expected and a little to noisy and raw.
Been looking at 599's always thought beautiful car but thought out of m league, well!
Seems 3 year old car with <10K not that far out of my reach.
Question is am I mad will running costs kill me, are they reliable.
It would be dealer car and used high days holidays what r people's experiences and recommendations. I've owned lots of Pork and thought 911 Tubo S but not that much of a change, Alwas had F itch and it needs scratching!
Any insights / advice welcome.

Looked at these last year.
Running costs in terms of petrol and such will indeed kill you, but servicing and maintenance were not too bad when compared with any "supercar". Also if your buying from a dealer you'll get 2 years F warranty anyway, so no hidden surprises.
Some of these sneaking around the £100k-110k mark now look like fairly good value... But expect to take a hit still as I can see these being £80k cars in the next 18 months or so and then hold at that level for a long time. Depends if its a keeper or not as to weather that will bother you. Mind you its probably just as easy to lose £10-15k on newish pork right?
New one out next year, sure to be very expensive so should not affect value of the "old model" just like 458 has not to 430?

The response that mentions similar running costs to any Supercar is the key. Allot of us can maybe afford to buy these cars used nowadays but we may not be able to run them. You can service your GT3 once every 2 years for approx £1200,20-25mpg with the only thing really needing changed being the pads & discs every 25k miles??. These "Supercars" do 8-12 mpg drinking the finest of Super-unleaded currently sitting at £1.45 a litre minimum? 599 has a 105 litre fuel tank compared to the GT3's 62 i believe.Insurance quote,servicing,things going wrong,pads,discs and tires all add up if your planning to actually drive it. I think a years Power warranty is £2500-£3000 for the 599 compared to your GT3's £1250 and you need to get it serviced at Ferrari or void your warranty(similar to Porsche i guess). If your planning to actually use it then be prepared i guess.
Friend is running a 612 the way you would run your everyday Mondeo and the costs are ridiculous. 8mpg town driving and 14mpg at 60-70mph motorway cruising(So just imagine trying to have a good old blast in it or a trip to Monte Carlo). Minor service came in at £1800 and the power adjusted seat being faulty cost £400 to fix. A few things fixed under warranty at crazy prices so its essential that you have one.
Sure you can find good independants with so-called fixed service pricing that could look after your car but please do your research as you could be returning to Porsche with your tail between your legs along with losing a load in depreciation.
Stunning looking car though.

I'm always looking for my next car too. Thinking of going back into a gallrdo (lp560), I'm in a DBS at the moment. But after reading your comment - I'm now thinking about a 599. Are they really that good? Have you found the width to be an issue at all? That's what's always put me off (even if it's marginal against the DBS - the 599 looks extremely wide)I'm always looking for my next car, but I'm struggling to think of anything at any price that can follow the 599.

I find that Ferraris are not anywhere near as low at the front as a GT3.Depends on how severe the slope is I guess.polar8 said:

I had though servicing was £650 for the F430 for a standard, then £1200 for a bigger one - is it that much more for the front engine GT's?

If I can help anyone with a 599, please let me know! I must state, I did work for Aston Martin for Five Years and the comments comparing the V12 Astons to the 599 are very true. The HGTE Handling Pack is a must for me though to definitely impress!

I also kept looking at the 599 at Meridian, great spec, but while other cars that hadn't sold got cheaper their car stayed at £125k and is why it's still there.

I have a V12V and considered the 599 before buying the Aston. The 599 starts to excel when you are so far above the legal limit whereas the V12V is still fun to drive at legal speeds. I also found the size of the 599 to be an issue in town driving. Trying to go through the bollards at the Hogarth flyover was a balancing act. For town driving the 599 is simply too big but take it to Germany and let it loose on the Autobahn and you will have a blast.
