And I don't mean to the Le Mans Classic and Italy.
After all the planning for Italy, it seems like I may have provisionally sold the Testarossa. Not a done deal yet, but he is coming up to see it next weekend and, to give me a deposit if he is happy with it. It seems like it may be Australia bound. Very mixed feelings
The chap advertised for it on here, Wayne Davies. He seems totally genuine and has supplied cars to QV and Simon Furlonger. If anyone of the esteemed Ferrari PH masses can add to the recommendation I would be grateful.
I was so looking forward to taking it to Italy but, if Wayne sees it and thinks it is the car for his client, then I guess it wasn't meant to be.
Now... little "doer up" cottage or a DB9 / Maserati GT
Couldn't resist another shot of it, taken last Sunday. hell, I'll miss it. The favourite car out of all I have ever owned, yes, even more than my beloved 3.2 carrera.

as a kid, this was on my wall, along with the countach poster.
everytime over the years that i've seen a testarossa on the road, it always, always gives me the wow factor.
i was lucky enough many years ago, to get a ride in 1, 10 laps of brands truly epic. just need to own and drive one now.
the best car i have ever owned, was a bmw, e34, m5. i still regret selling it. don't make the same mistake with this beauty.

Correct Paul. I don't need to sell it but, to be honest, I'm not wealthy compared to a lot on this forum and am starting to think now of having a more solid investment than a car for when I have retire in fifteen years!
We are also in a position where we could buy a little second house to mess around with, a bit of a doer upper, which I have wanted to do for more years than I can remember.
Yes, the Testarossa is going up, but it also costs money to run when you drive them regularly like I do. Maybe if I had a garage it may be easier to justify keeping, but I'm also getting fed up of cleaning it, them ten minutes later it bloody rains!
If I got a DB9 it would be at the right price and only for a year, so depreciation would be minimal if at all.

Well, deposit paid and just awaiting transfer.
As to what to do next, in the current economic climate I have decided to do the only sensible thing. I went to look at this yesterday:
Gorgeous car but I can't risk putting the amount of deposit that he requires to take it off sale until my transfer comes through so unfortunately we may miss this one. At least our minds have been set, a black DB9 it is.

Congratulations on the sale but are you sure about the DB9?
They are stunning to look at but what about the reliability? Sorry to be negative as I hate being that. I have just heard (and seen) too many issues with them that although I would love one have crossed it off the list. Would hate for to to go from a 1980's reliable beauty to a 2005+ car with a hotline to the AA!

Very Sad to see your Testarossa go, I am not sure that you should not have waited another year or two as I believe that they have got to go up in value as the price gap between a 512 Boxer and the Testarossa is too big which has got to change.
The DB9 that you have looked at is very very lovely but have you not considered a 550.
Although the DB9 is a lot newer from my Aston vs 550 experience I think the Ferrari will be more reliable.
The 550 would give you the big front engined rear drive GT experience that the DB9 would but the 550 will be a lot quicker and I believe will handle better. I also think that the value of 550's have levelled off but the DB9 will carry on depreciating.

That is why I haven't gone for a Vanquish David. I have been doing some pootling around on the Aston forum and there doesn't seem to be any real inherent mechanical issues. A few with paint problems and yes, a few that have had trouble with the cars but, no more so than any other marque.They are stunning to look at but what about the reliability?
