Lamborghini Jet Car

The boys have been playing in the tractor shed again...

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the F22 Raptor
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the F22 Raptor
Lamborghini has been hiding something from us all. They’ve been making a car based on a plane. Not just any plane, though, it’s modelled on the US Army’s latest toy – the F22 ‘Raptor’.

The car is set to cost $1.6million and be closely inspired by the Raptor, including a grey paint job and a stylised instrument panel.

Lamborghini has vowed to make only 20 cars, half of which are off ‘Stateside and all of which have been spoken for by means of a $300,000 deposit.

The boys from Sant Agata have only commented that they are making a jet-inspired car and that it will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show,

Who wouldn't want a car based on that?
Who wouldn't want a car based on that?
they’re keeping their cards close to their chest with the other details.

The F-22 Raptor is a stealth replacement for the current (ish) F-15 fighter plane. Designed by Lockheed, the plane is capable of supersonic cruising and can sneak up on targets practically unseen. In order to make sure it lived up to its stealth capabilities, all its missiles are inside the fuselage.

Having heard about this car, we're wondering whether it's a possible Veyron beater? The current LP640 can crack 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and do 210mph, all for £192,000 - so what will £800,000 (est) get you?

The limited production run smacks of Enzo, so is it only for current owners? If it isn't, why hasn't the press been told about it?

Will it fire ground to air missiles and tell you when a laser has been targetted on it? smile

Sound intruguing to say the least.

I wonder what it will actually look like?

If it's based on the F22 it means they wont sell them to anyone but Italians, and then make a cheaper version thats not quite as good for export.

Veyron beater?

I wonder if it'll be to the Veyron what the MC12 is to the Enzo.

Hey, does that mean as its military technology based, that it comes out 5 years late, at 3 times its original budget and only goes backwards!

5 years late....???? Lets be realistic, got to be at least 12 years late to qualify as a military based project.

Guesses on the driving cabin layout? Monoposto or 2 seats inline? I guess the styling will be no big surprise (as Lambo is essentially trying to have the "Stealth" look on their cars ever since the Murcielago), but a 2 seater inline midengined car with a bubble canopy would be something new... hard to fit the engine though.

Allegedly the original F22 Raptor design was so awesome it had to have everything scaled down by half as it would have killed the pilot...

... so here's hoping for an utterly astonishing car.

But new Lambos look like the Raptor anyway with their low, angular styling.

So what they mean is it will look more like the Raptor

I reckon it'll be awesome, if they ever do make it. Fingers crossed for something crazy, rather than a rebodied, tuned up Murc...

Good point. Reminded me of the Heuliez Pregunta (Lambo based) Roadster too, that was allegedly inspired by some aircraft.

Let's just hope this new one has radar(trap) seeking missiles

Since they are part of VAG along with Bugatti, perhaps they will produce a Lambo version of the Veyron to help offset the huge development costs of the Bugatti? Any thoughts?
