PistonFest 2007 is packed with fun

Warm tent, plenty beer, silly things to do

PistonFest 2004
PistonFest 2004
PistonFest 2007 is back!

What is it? Where PHers go to muck about, drink beer, do silly things with cars, drink beer, have a bit of on-track fun and generally enjoy themselves. Did we mention the beer?

2007 sees Pistonfest return to Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk yet again running alongside the Stingray 24 Hour 2CV race. Only this year, Team Ted is running the PH car -- can we win? Will we lose points when Ted insists on a Pie pit stop every other lap? One thing’s for sure, we’ll need your support.

PistonFest 2007 is the perfect warm up event for Le Mans. Test your car, test your tent, test your beer belly and maybe even test your sun-tanning abilities (we did say maybe).

We have listened to your thoughts following last year, and here’s what we have added for this year:

  • Track time available on Sunday morning: 25 minute slots, open pit lane
  • Football pitch -- anyone fancy organising some teams?
  • Heated marquee
  • 2am bar
  • Hot food/ drink available from vans near the PH camping area
  • Music on both Saturday and Sunday night
  • Lights within the PH camping area

PistonFest games

  • Quickest pint drunk
  • How far can you throw a 2CVwheel
  • How far can one person carry a 2CV engine
  • Fastest time to remove all the doors, the bonnet and the boot from a 2cv -- and then put it all back on again
  • Pitstop challenge: change all wheels and pull 50 metres with a rope
  • Wheelbarrow race -- take rear wheels off a 2CV then lift by the rear bumper and push for 50 metres.

Top 3 teams go into the final where you’ll have to do a timed engine change. Winners get the Pistonfest Cup, worldwide adoration and a free half in the bar.

Those 2CV racers (over 40 teams) take their motorsport seriously (are you listening Ted?) so be prepared for some very entertaining racing from 4pm on Sunday to 4pm on Monday, just like Le Mans. You'll be able to get very close to the teams.

At the heart of PistonFest in 2007 will be the Stingray Village. Stingray - sponsors of the racing and avid PHers - will be providing the beer tent and live music. Traders are also being invited to attend.

  • When: Saturday 26 to Monday 28 May 2007
  • Where: Snetterton Circuit

Supporting Breast Cancer Research

Stingray -- sponsor of the 24 Hour Race -- will be supporting Cancer Research. Once they've covered the costs of the Stingray Village they will be donating their share of ticket receipts to charity.

Just remember, don't feed Jase WKD after midnight!!!

I also like the idea of the "see how long you can carry the 2CV engine around the field" competition, bit like the "see how long you can roll a stolen keg of beer round a field before realising that a) you've been rumbled by Ted, and b)you don't have the stuff to be able to open the barrel so it's a bit pointless anyway" competition...

This year the camping will be more organised, all PH'ers will be in the same field, and yes you can park next to your tent-

and there will be plenty of time for beer
