It is complicated and by no means a perfect system... but by lunchtime tomorrow (Friday) we take it as the confirmed attendance list. After this point we assume that everyone on the list will show up and we penalise anyone who doesn't turn up (we take a register on the gate).
Does that mean that the e-mails with smileys etc will be sent out after lunchtime tomorrow?

But PLEASE DO NOT COME if you are on the reserves list and haven't made it on to the attendance list.

So there you go... as clear as custard no doubt!

I'm sure you mean 'please don't expect to get parked in the PH parking' not that folks shouldn't come at all? There's plenty of public parking around the back of MBW on the old Brooklands track etc. Be a shame for someone to miss the meet just because they can't park on the PH strip.

I have absolutely no authority to tell you that you can do that - we're guests of MBW, and we've been allocated a number of spaces by them. It would be irresponsible and rude of me to tell people to just turn up and use their public parking for our event... If they had wanted more PHers to turn up then they'd probably have allocated us some more space. Therefore please do not assume that you can come and join in with the PH event if you're not on the guest list.

Having said all this obviously I can't stop you doing anything as you're also a member of the public, but please do not turn up and say you're part of the PH event if you're not!

We already have a delicate balancing act on our hands due to the driving standards of some of our members when we last came to MBW, so PLEASE don't risk our relationship with them by doing anything that could potentially tip the balance unfavourably. MBW is an excellent venue, they're awesome hosts and it would be a great shame if anything stopped us from making the most of it all.

Thanks
JD

I understand what you're saying JD and sympathise as I organise similar events in the VW world. I also get your anxiety about a minority spoiling the occasion for the majority.

If you check the MBW website they claim to expect 1000s of motoring enthusiasts at the event.

Essentially as long as those who aren't officially within the 600 don't say that they are and are prepared to risk not being able to park in the public areas, then it's down to them if they go along.

I'm local to the venue and it is a cracking place. The Brooklands Museum next door is also worth a visit for those who are making a day of it.

Exactly right, I just can't recommend that anyone does this!

Deleted from list as unable to attend. Made way for someone else.

Slightly embarrassing question:
I've never been to a SS before and think I got my name on the list in time.
I now can't find the list - do you get told you are 'in' or do you just go by your place on the list?

Well even more embarrassingly I selected the option to not show my name on the list (why I don't know, just my default Internet approach to everything).

Edited: I was able to edit my entry and remove the hide box.

I haven't read the whole thread so hope this has not already been asked, I'm on the list but I'm going to be arriving on a motorcycle, do I need to keep my place on the list or can I free it up to someone with a car ???
Cheers

Close enough to walk I assume? I plan to look at cars and chat to other Phers for a bit, then walk over to the museum, then grab lunch in MBW at 12...then hopefully escape our PH parking before I get in the way of whatever is happening at 2pm. It is a careful balancing act of keeping the other half happy who likes cars...but she could quickly get grumpy if I don't keep her entertained smile

Hopefully there are a few white McLarens turning up, they always keep her happy smile

@ James Drake,

I for one love this PHSS venue and would not want for us to loose it as a site for us to use.
From memory last year I only recall the usual exit rituals of a quick squirt through 1st/2nd being observed.
If something unacceptable to our hosts occured (or even if the above was frowned upon) then please share
It with us so it can be avoided this year.

Many Thanks,

Hi James.

What time should cars on the list arrive for?

I see on the MBW website the event starts at 9am, but had originally planned to get there well before then...

Obviously I don't want to get there before the actual venue opens.

Thanks

When you think of the speeds cars can get to with a "quick squirt through 1st & 2nd", considering the speed limit on that road is either 30 or 20 then you can understand why the hosts may have been a little concerned.

Hi James
I'm really sorry to bother you with this, I'm sure its hectic at the moment!
I'm stil coming, in fact really looking forward to it, but I'l lbe in a different car as mine is still having something fixed. I assume, as our names are being taken, I dont need to worry you with the details of the car I'll be in on Sunday.
Thanks

Agreed, this is why I feel it's important the word is spread.
If speed down the access road is the issue then we can try & address this.

I can't speak on behalf of PH or MBW but I do know for certain that one of their security vehicles was placed on the access exit road in an effort to slow people down, if they felt the need to do that then they must have been concerned. It's the same as anywhere though, there is no reason for the speed limits to be exceeded, whatever they may be.

That's no problem, just bring your windscreen "badge". See you on Sunday!
