I've not put myself down as I was pretty much first on the list for the last two, my appearance thwarted by a last minute must go to drink with my girlfriend's new employers and then a rather nasty case of Ebola put pay to last months.

Tell her (in advance) that you were planning on sitting this one out (because you love and respect her), but it's turned out that it's a really important one because [pick username] is dying/emigrating/getting married/bringing his ultra rare De Dion Bouton/changing sex/whatever, and it'd be so uncool to be the ONLY ONE to miss such an occasion (and that would be SO UNFAIR).
