it was a goodevent and pleased that all of it was on tarmac or hard grass.
why on earth were non of the stalls selling sun cream?! i got it in the end in the paddock shop.
epic cars on the track and what a noise, excellent.
loved all the private cars on display, shame i didnt have a chance to see the tvrs closely, too many nice ferraris and porsches to look round whilst trying to watch some racing!
more photo links pls

Another great meeting , I see Roger Wills drove in practically every race , there should have been an award for that in itself a few observations.
I could not get to the new pits as the buses were full all the time , a bridge or tunnel is desperately needed to link up that part of the circuit or EVERYONE will bring a bicycle next year which will cause more problems in itself.
The ground conditions were pretty bad in some areas , there seemed little logic in the display cars that were given hard standing as an alternative option ie Range Rovers instead of low sports cars ?
The Whittlebury campsite did their utmost to operate and give people the chance to get to the meeting but for godsake the pedestrian access - a totally unlit doomsday book trackway then across the lowest point of a flooded sheep field ? how long has this been the case ? forever I guess ? I think that could be rectified - it's an international race circuit and that kind of thing should be basic really ?
Despite this it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience , those Group C cars going around into the dusk - fantastic and I had no idea Adam Ant had turned into Johnny Depp !

A really nice day at the classic.
The sea of F40's
Loved this little car best I think,
please no one tell me it wasn't a real one...
Good to meet you Blib, your car made it there, made the parade and made it back, faith in the reliabilty gaining all the time. Those X1/9s arn't so bad after all.

We were to be placed next to you on that slope. But were moved by the organisers at the very last moment up to the hardstanding. We kept a wary eye on you Lotus boys, especially early on in the weekend. One of our guys reported that a couple of your members slid perilously close to a raised manhole cover on Saturday.
Pleased that you all got out alive !

I was fortunate to have media access so used their hard-standing on Saturday. I decided to brave it on Sunday and had a nice spot for the old shed to rest for the day in the sunshine. It was fine getting out but I understand Friday was a different matter...!
I've been making the annual pilgrimage to the "Silverstone Classic" ever since it was called the Coys historic Classic car festival from 20 yrs ago.
This year was buy far and away the biggest and best ever, and the organisational thought that’s gone into it, and the new layout is superb.
My only constructive criticism would be that the BRDC needs to consider at least one more bridge or tunnel from the infield, and also that the historic buses being used really need better indication of exactly where they were going !
We went for 6 hrs Saturday, and decided it was so huge we had to stay through Sunday evening. Both days were near perfect weather, although apparently it had rained on the Friday and boggy areas had yellow ducks floating in them. Saturday was the nicer day, due to lack of crowds.
Despite 10,000's of cars parked everywhere, its seems ironic that the most common car there was an F40, mostly with common F40 number plates ... !!!
I somehow managed to take 1,200 photos of everything all at 21mega pixel res. But here's a random selection of shrunken postage stamp pics for PH :-

One word about the Classic......
Busses..
What a shambles. The que for the infield busses at the AA centre on Saturday was farcical. We ended up walking to The Wing past an irate security guard from 4GS (Al Quaeda will have no worries at the Olympics if they are all like him)
Nice having vintage open top busses but I'd rather have had more modern ones so you didn't spend so much time queing for them.
I think you were a bit unlucky. We used the busses Saturday and Sunday and only opted out of the queu once as it was quicker to walk. Fortunately, we are all fit 50 ( and one almost 60 ) year olds who don't mind exercise. Busses..

Agree with G4s staff. Looking at most of them, they probably are Al Quaeda. Most were jabbering away in their own language which in England is wrong on so many levels.

Not sure I agree about the AQ bit, but agree in their role they must not converse in a language that may make people a tad nervous. Even Alonso conversing in Italian to his race engineers has upset a few people on the German GP thread. Mermaid said:

Even Alonso conversing in Italian to his race engineers has upset a few people on the German GP thread. Longtime reader, this event finally made me delurk and register. Absolutely loved it - I've never been before, nor really been aware of it, given that I don't tend to think of classic cars as being my thing (I enjoy the Scottish Classics championship, and like seeing the odd classic car on the road but know very little about them), but on hearing that the Super Tourers would be racing, I figured it was well worth a look: I absolutely love those cars, they were the first racing cars I saw in the flesh and I still credit them with turning me from a casual armchair motorsports fan into a much more keen live racing fan.
End result: Saturday was the best day out I've ever had and gave me a huge store of fantastic memories; I'll be back next year for sure! I was amazed just how many great cars were out there, the many car clubs had some fantastic machines around, a lot which I've never seen before, and even those I had seen maybe 1-2 examples of, I certainly hadn't seen big groups of them together. The racing I saw was great; I tended to skip the single seaters to allow time for looking at everything else, but touring cars and sportscars of all eras were really good, especially the 1970-2000 race, being the highlght of my day. I hadn't expected there to be quite so many Super Tourers out, frankly, great to know there's still that many in good running order! Also spotted a McLaren F1 parked up which totally made my day; it's been my dream car ever since I was a kid watching FIA GTs on the tv, I'd always assumed they're so rare I'd have to go to Goodwood to have a reasonable chance of ever seeing one, so that was a fantastic surprise!
All in all, amazing experience, thank you very much to whoever came up with the idea of a more modern touring car race; it was the one thing that made me take notice of an event I'd previously overlooked, and now know just how much I've been missing. Roll on next year, think I may well go with the two day option instead of only one day this time (oh and I hope they do the touring car race again, but even if not, I'll still be there, now I know how much else there is on offer!)

Surprised I haven't seen any pics of the 288 GTO that was in the Ferrari Club UK area.
Looked absolutely stunning!
Agreed that was gorgeous!! Ferrari owners club came over to our display and asked to borrow our Enzo for photos lol!!Looked absolutely stunning!
Tbh I had expected the odd F50 in there too....
I can see some of the photos were taken from the top of the stairs on the wing. I watched from here on Friday and Saturday but come Sunday nobody was allowed up there.
Was anybody else effected ? Hopefully it wasn't being reserved for BRDC members as their grandstand on Luffield was empty and the other next to their motor homes had a max of 5 people in (I know in theory they own the place but common sense)
